Paypal Cashback Mastercard: Payments downloaded as Charges

On June 8th, I made a $92.95 payment to PayPal Mastercard. I manually (correctly) entered the transaction as a linked transfer. However, it was later downloaded from the bank, not matching my transaction, as a "Charge" with a payee of "Cashback Mastercard" Category "Clothing" — The "92.95" amount should have been downloaded as "+92.95." If it had the + sign right, it would have matched.

If i don't manually enter a transaction, it still downloads payments as charges.

    Thank you for posting to the Community regarding this issue, although I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a reverse register with your PayPal Mastercard account in Simplifi.

    To start, would you mind providing a screenshot of the Transaction Detail window for both of the transactions displayed in your screenshot above so I can get a clearer idea of what's going on?

    (2) I'm changing how I pay this credit card starting yesterday. I got my first statement, which had a mailing address to send in payments, and I gave that address to chase (my checking account bank) which will use that to direct electronic payments at chase's end (bill pay). This allows me to schedule payments in the future (or sooner) before they clear.

    So, it's possible this issue will go away by virtue of not using the credit card's site to make payments.

    Yes, it definitely looks like you're seeing a reverse register with the downloaded transaction. It's up to you if you want to wait until your next card payment to see if it works properly with the new payment method. Is it just the payments to the card that are downloaded with a reversed amount?

    As far as I've seen so far, it's just the payments with reversed amounts.

    I should know (ideally) within 1-3 days if the alternate way of paying works different.

    The problem I have with CHARGES is not negative amounts, but that they are being marked cleared before they clear. For example, I made a charge this morning, which in simplifi is matched to a bank transaction and marked cleared. That's really a separate headache from this though. Maybe one problem at a time (?).

    Let me know how it goes when a new payment transaction downloads using the new payment method.

    For the other issue, it looks like we were waiting to see how the transactions downloaded (pending vs cleared) when there is no existing manual entry to match to —

    I have a guess as to why I was having problems.

    I think I had originally linked my paypal account to my paypal mastercard account (the reason: the mastercard account was previously not showing separately). Paypal and Paypal mastercard have some transactions in common but are not the same account.

    When I reset the connection today, it showed the paypal mastercard as a separate account to match. Earlier it did not show that option.

    This particular issue is fixed. The other one not sure.
