Re: Principal - Impact 401K Not Working
Hello @aparys,
Thanks for the reply! As long as you are not deleting your existing account within Quicken Simplifi, you should be able to connect to the new instance without losing any data. You can establish a fresh connection by making the account manual and re-linking to the Principal Financial Group instance I shared above. The instructions to do that are:
- Make all of the accounts with the bank manual by following the steps here.
- Once you see the account(s) listed in the Manual Accounts section under Settings > Accounts, go back through the Add Account flow to reconnect to the bank.
- If the connection is successful, carefully link the account(s) found to your existing Quicken Simplifi account(s) by following the steps here.
@lsanchis, Thanks for reaching out! I would also have you try connecting to the Principal Financial Group instance I provided previously in this thread. Let us know how this goes!

Re: QBP: Add a 'Date' field to items on Invoices (edited)
I also HIGHLY request that the “service date” which is already entered for each invoice line to be printed for each line.
this is a MUST for the customer to be able to identify what work was done on what day.
Example: if the customer is visited 15 times during the month (with various hours per visit). The resulting invoice just has 15 identical lines (with varying times)…. The customer needs to know the date of each service to verify with their own records etc.
Another example would: take a busy bank or credit card statement (and remove the dates)…. How would you actually easily verify that the statement was correct?
PLEASE PLEASE add the “service date” to the invoice printout.
Thanks!!!!
Re: Using splits (multiple categories) in Recurring Transactions (4 Merged Votes)
It has been 6 years, if Simplifi/Quicken is interested in honest open communication, they really should give us an official update on this.
I suspect since it has been 6 years that the chances of this being implemented is approaching zero.
Re: Using splits (multiple categories) in Recurring Transactions (4 Merged Votes)
You make a good point. If Simplifi does not make the choice to catch up, they will be left behind. That said, within the last year I tried several competing products and while they all have their positives and negatives, I like the Quicken (Both Classic and Simplifi) infrastructure. If they could just implement a few things they likely would grow their customer base much more.
Re: Help linking a manual investment transaction as a transfer (edited)
Never mind, I was able to achieve what I wanted creating a new manual account of type "Banking".
Another unexpected behavior I have previously observed is that the balance of the previous manual investment account X appeared to be 0, even if in the page of the account, in the transactions tab, the positive transaction appeared.
Re: PayPal - Missing Credit Account (edited)
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to let you all know that the escalation for this issue is still open and ongoing. We are awaiting a fix to be implemented by our service provider. We will continue to keep you all updated here!
Thank you all for your patience!
Re: Using splits (multiple categories) in Recurring Transactions (4 Merged Votes)
@TiggerTrainer
Are you familiar with the film "Tora! Tora! Tora!" by any chance? It's a dramatization of the events leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. As is also historically true, there are two men assigned to a mountaintop to operate a newly-installed radar system. When they get the first blips "on their radar" from the approaching Japanese aircraft, one of them calls it in to report it. The lieutenant tells him that what the two privates are seeing "on their radar" is probably just an incoming flight of B-17s from the mainland. So he tells the two men to disregard what they are seeing "on their radar". The private up on the mountain shrugs and hangs up, he tells his partner that they've been directed to disregard what's "on their radar", and they both leave to have breakfast.
Having something "on your radar" means only that you know that it's there — not what you intend to DO about it. Thus far, Quicken has said only that the feature has been "submitted for review". That doesn't mean that they are performing such a review. It doesn't mean they have a time frame for when that review might start, or how long the review might take once it begins. It doesn't even mean that they intend to perform such a review at all.
After six years, I would say that in all likelihood, we are now more likely to see competing applications implement AI-based features where you will be able to tell the application in plain English that you expect such-and-such a transaction once a month, and when it arrives, you want it to be split in a particular fashion — ChatGPT, for example, already has features that are similar.
Simplifi is becoming the Eudora of personal finance apps.
Re: Using splits (multiple categories) in Recurring Transactions (4 Merged Votes)
"no work has been done on this topic yet."
That's encouraging (not).
Given the various complexities people have pointed out, I think this issue is going to require a lot of work.

Re: Nested categories in Simplifi don't show up correctly in [planned spend]
I tried what you suggested, only I started deleting and recreating the categories from the lowest level up. That fixed the problem and it's working as intended now.
I have a guess as to what happened now. I think the 2nd-level categories in my sinking funds branch all happened to be default categories that I reorganized, not ones that I created myself. Not sure why that was causing issues but it seems like deleting them and creating my own categories fixed it and now the transactions are showing up properly in the spending plan.
