Re: Incorrect balance in manual account
Related: Values in Market Value graph for manual Other Asset account are date-shifted
The Market Values graph at the top of the page for a manual Other Asset account looks like a day by day representation of the value of the asset over the selected period. But it's not.
In reality, the graph doesn't count transactions based on the displayed transaction "Date." Instead, it treats the transaction as having happened on the date it was entered into Simplifi.
For example, today (Oct 4) I entered transactions dated August 31 and September 30 representing the gain in those two months. But the Market Value graph shows the increase in value from those two transactions as a single spike in value in October — on the date they were entered.
This is not a big deal for me, but it does skew the value graph and make it less accurate.

Re: Add Ability to Re-Calibrate Balance in Manual Accounts
they could put time limits on this, like once per hour max, if they were worried about overload..

Re: Ability to schedule some “planned spending”
This might not be a planned spending thing. You can schedule a monthly recurring reminders for regular spending, for example, for a haircut on a certain day (like 2nd tuesday of the month), and as long as you don't mark it paid then, until you mark it paid it will stay on the cash flow chart (and in spending plan) as a bill/subscription which is just 'late'. This will affect the cash flow and the spending plan. Planned spending never affects the cash flow chart otherwise.

Re: Issue connecting two logins with Vanguard (edited)
If Simplifi was designed for a single person (not household finances) and had intentionally limited people to a single account per institution, that would be one thing. As it stands, it doesn’t work like that, isn’t marketed like that, and they would lose a lot of paying customers (and prevent a lot of new customers from signing up) if they choose to go that route.
I had two Vanguard accounts in Simplifi for years. This bug is a regression.
Why they haven’t fixed it is anyone’s guess, but I am still signed in to multiple accounts at American Express, Chase, and more. It is not a limitation of the platform or (thus far) a strategic decision to juice their subscription revenue. If and when that changes, people will vote with their dollars. In the meantime, they ought to fix the bug. People shouldn’t be considering paying them more money to work around a bug they have let languish for this long. If anything, people should be considering switching to a competitor that doesn’t have this bug and is perhaps more responsive when bug like this arise. I’ll leave the investigation of that as an exercise for the reader.
Personally, I tried a lot of alternatives when Mint was shutting down. I hope I don’t have to switch. I don’t want to. But it would make a lot more sense to switch personal finance software than move all my funds from one financial institution to another or pay more for personal finance software that has been frustrating me.

Re: Ability to Split Categories in Category Rules (edited)
I have the same frustration for recurring transactions as well. My rent is all inclusive but I categorize individual items, such as rent; electric; water; etc. As such I must create individual planned, recurring transactions for each of those 8 other categories rather than doing it once.
