Export missing data: the last straw :(
So I just exported from the Transaction list and QS skipped a hundred or so transactions from a couple of thousand. (exporting this years transactions) I exported from the Transaction tab and got this…
Only the amount and Category were listed. Everything else in the export was fine.
I later exported from Reports page, had to add Notes to the columns, then I got what I hope was a complete set with no missing info.
The last straw, my annual account is going to renew in Dec and I've been evaluating in parallel a different product. This missing data, recurring/unaddressed bugs and lack of features has pushed me over to a new product. The other product has:
- Saved reports
- Creates reports that EXCLUDE a tag(s)
- Notes and Tags visible in all registers
- Connects to two accounts that QS cannot connect to making my list complete
- Can download Investment balances, and NO transactions, which keeps my Networth intact
- Bulk removal of tags
- Average amounts shown in reports when viewing multiple months
- Better pie charts in Reports that show more top categories and you can also see "everything else" in a single click and not drill downs.
- Better Rules creation with many more parameters to choose from.
- More reliable recurring and rules creation for transaction. (QS consistently does not apply some rules and recurring that I have created)
- Creates true splits that allow for tags and notes in each split
- Budgeting is different that the Spending plan. Took some getting used to, but now i prefer it to QS
- Ai chatbot that actually provides decent answers and if not, feeds you into their support, which is just OK.
What's not as good or equivalent:
- Equally reliable account connections, at the moment, better than QS
- Recurring expenses are not used to calculate an estimated monthly total, per Watchlists
- Goals, both products have gaps. I don't use either.
- No tax reports or retirement planning tools that I know of, I don't use the QS retirement planner, and I create saved reports to get exactly the transactions I need for Tax purposes
- The new product costs more, but since QSs increase, not that much more per month.
What QS does better:
- Watchlists that use Recurring transactions. BUT they are also limited by the inability to adjust the 12 month view.
- More transparent Community experts. Good, they consistently tell you what's been fixed or updated. Bad, I know that saved reports has been on the list for years. Thanks to QS for a strong community.
So many products out there, so I know that each of us has a preference and "our own" way to work things. For me, QS simply isnt it anymore. Since Mint shut down, I've kept a full spreadsheet of transactions if I ever need to go back to do research. It's a pain that the new product or QS for that matter, won't go far back in history, but that's what the spreadsheet is for. Any product, just like Mint, will come and go. But my data in the spreadsheet will always be there.
Re: Is QS supposed to automatically enter a recurring transaction/transfer as a pending transaction?
@DannyB, I'm glad to hear that a new Recurring Series fixed this issue for you!
Re: Simplifi Bill Connect - not working correctly for Consumers Energy
Thank you, @Coach Natalie !
Re: Simplifi Bill Connect - not working correctly for Consumers Energy
@Duke0486, thank you for the information!
We have resubmitted this to our aggregation partner and will follow up with you here when we receive another update. We may end up needing to escalate this internally as a product issue instead of to our aggregation partner, but we will see what they say.
Re: Recurring Transfer History does not display in the series details if the recurring amount is $0
Thank you for the update @Coach Natalie. Luckily using $0.01 recurring tran has solved my issues for now and is a low priority for me currently.
Re: Is QS supposed to automatically enter a recurring transaction/transfer as a pending transaction?
I went ahead and ended the existing recurring series which retired it and preserved the historical data for this series.
Then I created a brand spanking new recurring transfer from scratch.
After creating the new series this is what I now see in my Spending Plan under Bills > Excluded this month:
In addition, the misplaced reminder in Other Spend is gone, so this appears to be resolved.
Thanks for your suggestions and insights.

Re: More detailed CSV Exports (original name and description, flags, reviewed, check number)
This is sorely needed and can't come any sooner, particularly on the "original description" front. Having migrated after the Mint shutdown, the lack of this makes me hesitant to continue with Simplifi.
Begrudgingly, I feel somewhat held hostage at the moment, unable to extract the data I'd need to migrate elsewhere. The irony, though, is having the ability to migrate elsewhere would make the feel safer sticking with Simplifi, and wouldn't evoke a feeling of helplessness.
The fact that this hasn't been addressed and remains in a "coming soon!" state increasingly makes me tempted to manually copy/paste data from each of my many transactions since the Mint shutdown and cut my losses before the problem worsens. Please make it so this isn't the case!
Re: Advanced Transaction Rules: Share your feedback here!
I really like the new changes and look forward to testing them now that they're general release. Thank you.
Re: Refund Reminder Card Displays on All Accounts
I have eschewed the Refund feature. If I have a refund coming, I just make a future dated transaction for when I expect the refund. It works. I can always adjust the date. Frankly, I usually just use today's date as refunds don't usually take long. I do the same with credit card rewards.
You can always use a one-time reminder too especially if it is going to take a while.
Like everyone else, I am puzzled why fixing the Refund reminder (which is just a variation of a reminder) has taken so long to fix.
