Re: Michigan-529 Michigan Education Savings Program Missing (edited)
Mint used Intuit to connect to the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP) aggregator URL (
). Simplifi also uses Intuit to connect to accounts, so it shouldn't be difficult to add this institution. In fact, every Simplifi competitor I checked can successfully access Michigan Education Savings Program accounts, so why can't Simplifi?!
Furthermore, this institution was originally requested in 2020, and there's still no access? This is very disappointing.
Re: Michigan-529 Michigan Education Savings Program Missing (edited)
I'd like to add: because the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP) aggregator URL ( ) was designed specifically for aggregators like Intuit (which Simplifi uses), it doesn't have any two-factor authentication to navigate and the site layout is designed so aggregators can easily download data into their systems.
In short, it should be relatively quick and easy for Simplifi to add the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP) aggregator as an available institution. Please get it done!

Workaround to connect Michigan MESP 529 accounts to Simplifi AND avoid multi-factor authentication every time you log into Simplifi:
As stated by @Dognose above, "CA, GA, OK, MI, WI plus others all seem to share the TIAA 529 platform," so even though the MI 529 isn't available as an institution on Simplifi, my hope was that I could connect my MI 529s through another state that shares the same TIAA 529 platform.
In short, you can. I successfully connected my MI 529s through the New York 529 aggregator without issue. If you don't want to deal with multi-factor authentication every time you log into Simplifi, you'll need to create aggregator login credentials (which are entirely separate and different from your regular MI 529 login credentials). You do this online through the MI 529 site when logged in with your regular credentials. If you need help creating aggregator login credentials, please call the MI 529 for assistance.
Steps:
- When logged into Simplifi, go to Settings → Accounts → +Account [i.e. the add account button in the upper right corner].
- Type "New York 529" into the "Search all financial institutions" field. You'll see two available options: New York 529 College Savings and New York 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan - Non Aggregator.
- If you created the separate aggregator login credentials I mentioned above and wish to avoid multi-factor authentication every time you log into Simplifi, select the first institution option: New York 529 College Savings
- If you only have your regular MI 529 login credentials and/or don't mind multi-factor authentication every time you log into Simplifi, select the second institution option: New York 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan - Non Aggregator.
- Enter the applicable login credentials based on the institution you selected, and you should be good to go!

- Enter the applicable login credentials based on the institution you selected, and you should be good to go!
Empower disconnected - Care Code: FDP-6000
Trying to reconnect Empower (yes, at 6AM EST) and getting this error.
Anyone else seeing this? Is this related to their migration?
This is for a regular Empower 401k.
Re: Does the account-specific Balance Type setting actually do anything?
Thanks for doing this Bob. I have the same issue and it drives me crazy. Waiting patiently for v4.89.0

Thank you both. Problem solved after @SRC54 suggestion. I appreciate you, sir.
Just for reference @Coach Jon , please see the image attached.
And yes, this issue was present in other browsers and even other computers. Tried on a laptop and on a desktop (phone app was unaffected)
And no early access.

Thank You @SRC54 — I could support that.
