Re: Incorrect Balances and Savings Goals for all Manually Tracked Accounts and Assets (edited)
Hello @ejs,
Thanks for the reply. We in the community are not aware of what specifically caused the issue; however, I did reach out to my team to verify if any insight could be provided.
Re: Vancity is down Care code: FDP-102
Alright, not great news. I just got off the phone with Vancity and they said that Quicken Simplifi is no longer compatible with their system. It is a known issue that Simplifi will have to correct. Until then, manual imports are the only way to get the information in.
So, the question to Simplifi is, what is the ETA until it gets fixed?
Thanks!
Re: Using splits (multiple categories) in Recurring Transactions (4 Merged Votes)
(I thought I would add this comment here, in addition to the DM, to make sure it is part of the mix.)
The slippery part is making recurring splits work with the Spending Plan.
Ideally, a recurring split transaction for a "paycheck" would show up in the Spending Plan as follows (using the example of a paycheck with deductions for taxes and health insurance):
- Gross amount split - appears under Spending Plan | Income
- Tax split - appears under Spending Plan | Bills
- Health insurance split - appears under Spending Plan | Bills
At the start of the month when I look at my Spending Plan,
- I want the Spending Plan | Income section to reflect my actual predicted gross income from upcoming recurring transactions (not the income after deductions).
- And I want the expenses that will be paid from those upcoming recurring transactions to show up under Spending Plan | Bills.
Where the amount shows up in Spending Plan should be based on the type of Category for the individual split (Income or Expense), not on whether the whole transaction ends up being positive or negative.

Hello everyone!
I am back with an update from our product team for this issue. The $0 balance issue for all manually tracked accounts and assets should be resolved as of today. Can you please let us know if you are still experiencing any problems related to the issues reported in this thread?
Thank you!
Re: Allow users to classify an Investment Account as a non-investment account
@FlyingAround Thoughtful comments, and I cannot disagree with any of it. I complain to Fidelity all the time and I just say Quicken because most of these service reps don't know what Simplifi is and couldn't care less. I get some who say it is up to Quicken, and Quicken says it is dictated by the FI. I do know that in Quicken Classic last summer Fidelity did away with its Direct Connect so that it now doesn't update as quickly and as in Simplifi, sometimes a transaction doesn't download. Unlike Simplifi, I have to put it in myself to keep the cash balance right. OTOH, Fidelity now wants the Cash balance to be zero so I have to put in buy transactions for the core account to bring cash balance back to 0.00.
At least, Quicken Classic does support splits and checks. I wish Simplifi would use the regular register so we can have reminders and splits. I also think pending transactions should subtract from the downloaded balances in Investments. Right now, they are just ignored like everything else until the balance updates. The easiest thing would be to treat CMAs as checking accounts or savings accounts but that seems to have been rejected by Simplifi.
I do know we've lost several users because of the lack of support for CMA. In my case, I don't use it much because it is so crippled so I continue to use my local bank account for most spending. But when a new user comes along and they depend on this account for their daily spending, they are likely to go elsewhere.
I do think Simplifi does plan to address CMA compatibility in some manner, but I fear it is low on the list and they ae very busy implementing other things right now. So it seems unlikely not to be soon.
Thanks for posting.

Re: Account Register Update: Share your feedback here!
I did confirm that our product team is aware of the slowness, and they are actively working on enhancements to improve the behavior. No confirmed ETA as of yet, but a fix is coming!

Yes, I am also seeing it. I have to type a letter, wait a bit, type another letter, wait a bit, etc. to get the entire search string in. Otherwise the latest letter I type replaces what was in the search box before.
Example: I type "dog" and the search box ends up with only "g" in it.

Re: Get rid of "Everything Else" and show all Categories on the Spending Report graph (edited)
Skimming back through the excellent comments from other folks, I'd summarize the "main" ask here as
- Do not change anything with the pie chart or bar chart views. Some people like how that is currently working.
- Add a NEW, text or tabular view that lists all categories at the particular level, with the name of the category and the $ amount for the filters applied.
- Do not need to list transactions per category within the view itself
- Provide a link to download the per category results to CSV or Excel (one row per category)
One example of how this might work …
- Go to Reports > Spending
- Select a date range or other filters, e.g. "Year to Date"
- Select a new, third icon. Instead of "pie" or "bar" I could choose "tabular"
- Output a line in the report for every top level category that has transactions matching the specified filters. Display:
- Category name
- Total $$ for transactions within the category, matching the applied filters
- Optionally, a link to open a detailed transaction view in a different tab or panel
- Clicking on category name would navigate to a similar view for the sub-categories of the selected category.
Re: Get rid of "Everything Else" and show all Categories on the Spending Report graph (edited)
What is the best way to promote a particular idea to the rest of the community, so that we get enough upvotes for the Simplifi developers to actually evaluate and implement the suggestion? I've been keeping an eye on this thread because the lack of showing all categories without clicking "Everything Else" repeatedly is really annoying. But, it doesn't seem like we have the votes at the moment to make anything actually happen.
