Re: Spending Plan: Upcoming credit card payment showing in both Bills and Other Spend
Hello @DryHeat,
Thanks for the reply. I am glad to hear that resolved the issue here! If you do see this problem happen again, be sure to let us know so we can investigate further at that time.
Is there a way to stop advertising within the app?
I just had an advert for some quicken product I have zero interest in pop up in the centre of my screen, requiring a dismissal before I could access the app that I paid for. This is on web.
Is there a way to turn this off? I checked the settings page but could not find anything. I find this kind of behaviour anathema, and it's honestly enough to make me switch from this product. Just utterly unacceptable.
Re: Full Payee descriptions are needed (edited)
I got a notice of a multi thousand dollar charge today from “wish.com”, a website I’d never heard of. Queue fraud fears, calling wife, preparing to call bank. Then I go to the bank website, the charge is legit, from a totally 100% different payee.
Simplifi, please just stop with the renaming.
Re: Full Payee descriptions are needed (edited)
At this point, I'm convinced that Simplifi has very little control over this problem. I have multiple different banks synced with Simplifi and different ones act differently. It's a problem with the way the data is coming to Simplifi from the bank…not a problem of how Simplifi is treating it once they get it. If the bank provides the entire downloaded Payee name to Simplifi, then Simplifi displays it.
I'm working with one of my banks to try and troubleshoot this. I'll track what I find in this other post…

Re: Full Payee descriptions are needed (edited)
Adding a link to this other post that has a lot more details related to my August 28th post. Unfortunately, I don't know how much control Quicken Simplifi will really have over this. The problem is really with the individual bank. My reasoning for believing this is in the other post.

Re: Allow Investment Transactions to Impact Manual Investment Account Balances/Portfolio Value (edited)
When I add transactions in a manual investment account, they do not update holdings. It would be better if these two items be better integrated, so if I purchase or sell shares, my holdings would be upgraded accordingly.
Re: Simplifi | Investment | Transaction Category & Reports
Thanks this should work for now. I'm hiding all these brokerage transactions from my day to day Spending Plan until the spend actually happens, mainly to keep my head sane! Its largely building up a fund for known quarterly one off expenses like Estimated Taxes. It is exactly like holding the money in a Savings account (I prefer Vanguard's higher money market int rates). I am also keeping the Dividend income showing in all reports so I can track the total income vs spending including tax payments.
Re: Net Worth Feature: Share your feedback here!
Hey, thanks for the feedback! This is a bug that should be fixed very soon. Once fixed, every time time range 1 year and under will show daily granularity, with peaks and valleys. Stay tuned!
Re: Allow Transactions to Link Directly to Savings Goals
I’ll try to explain what I think the request really is, or at least what I would personally like to see.
Besides using Savings Goals to track my emergency fund, I also use them to manage sinking funds. For me, Savings Goals are a way to set money aside for known future expenses and then spend from that money when the time comes.
Here is the scenario I have in mind:
I have two sinking funds (Savings Goals):
– Christmas, with $3,000
– Annual Subscriptions, with $2,000
Simplifi already does a great job letting me budget and assign money to each goal.
Now let’s say this month I need to pay my Simplifi annual subscription, which costs $71.99. I already have that money saved inside my Annual Subscriptions goal.
When the credit card charge comes in, it would be great if I could edit the transaction and see a field like “Spend from Goal.” That field would show a list of my existing goals. I would select Annual Subscriptions, and Simplifi would automatically subtract $71.99 from that goal.
Instead of just disappearing, that amount would move into a kind of “reconciled” or “spent from goal” balance. Then, at the end of the month, I could clearly see how much money was spent from goals and either:
• transfer that amount to checking, or
• pay the credit card directly from the account where the goals live
This could be done manually or using Simplifi’s transfer tools.
Another budgeting app already works this way, so I know this kind of flow is possible. It would make sinking funds feel complete from start to finish: save the money, spend from the goal, and then reconcile it cleanly.
I hope this explanation makes sense. I would really love to see a feature like this added in the coming months.
