Re: Create a Rule with AND condition instead or OR
I took some time to do some actual testing of the Rules implementation in Simplifi.
Turns out what I thought was being treated as an "OR" condition is actually an "AND".
In order to achieve an "OR" condition you would create a separate role for each keyword.
Below is my documentation based on the default "Original Statement Name".
Keep in mind that by partial matches are considered matches as well (see scenario 2 "angel")
Scenario 1
< --- Orig Statement Name > search = "lax" |
|
Scenario 2 < --- Orig Statement Names > Search "angel" |
Re: Create a Rule with AND condition instead or OR
I'm a little confused by this discussion. The idea post you linked seems to be asking Simplifi to implement an "OR" condition, which is what @geekcred and the support article say we already have.
- @geekcred says that keywords words in a rule are treated as "OR" conditions (and then goes on to request support for AND conditions).
- The idea post you linked says that "The AND condition: this is what you have" (and then goes on to request support for OR conditions).
- The support article you linked says you can "add additional OR keywords by clicking the plus button."
For my part, I thought that:
- the "Contains" version of a rule was basically an "AND" rule — the transaction had to have all of the keywords listed, but not in any particular order, and
- the "is Exactly" version of a rule was also an "AND" rule — but that the transaction had to have all of the keywords listed, in order, and no other words.
Can you help me with this? Is it true that the key words in a rule (using "Contains") are treated as "OR" conditions? Does that mean that a rule will match a transaction if it contains ANY of the keywords?

Create a Rule with AND condition instead or OR
I am using Simplifi. I discovered some transactions being renamed using logic I did not anticipate. After some research I discovered each keyword listed is basically treated as an "OR" condition.
In the example below if either "trade" or "coffee" appear the rule is triggered.
I have numerous transaction I'd like to set up with "AND" logic.
If a transaction has BOTH "trade" and "coffee" then, and only then, should the rule be triggered.
I noticed the drop down when editing my rule has an option for "is Exactly". Does anybody have experience using this parameter in rules? The "Is Exactly" option appears to apply to text or a phrase which is not quite what I am looking for (Keywords based on AND) but still useful so long as I can identify a phrase which will always match the transactions?

Re: Stop (or control) recurring Bills being created automatically?
I had a similar issue to @cloudquick when I first set up my sister's Simplifi account a couple of weeks ago. My answers to your questions would be:
-By "created without me wanting them to be" I mean that the recurring series just showed up without any action on my part. Simplifi downloaded a few months of historical transactions to start off with and then these recurring transactions appeared in the list.
-Yes, when I saw them I went through the entire list and deleted all the ones I had not set up myself.
-Yes, they returned within a day or two. I deleted them a second time. They did not come back.
-No, there is no issue with matching because these were not really recurring transactions.
To me, it appeared that Simplifi had just picked some historical transactions (like with the grocery store or Lowe's) and turned them into recurring series. It seemed kind of random.
EDIT: I just remembered that this is the same information I provided on a similar discussion here:

Re: Investment Transaction Duplications (edited)
Hello @neon45,
Thanks for confirming! We are still working on a fix for this issue, and we will be sure to report back here when we have a status update.

Re: Ability to download or print Reports [edited] (1 Merged Vote)
Please add the ability to export to Excel to all reports (and transaction lists, for that matter).
Currently some reports can be exported to Excel or CSV, some only to CSV, and some not at all.
QBP has the ability to export to Excel — so it would be nice if it was available everywhere.

Re: ETrade Investments won't sync - code FDP-103
…and of course just after I left the above posts, I tried once again and it connected. I think that was my 6th attempt. ETrade can be so finicky, it is very frustrating.
Ability to Re-Organize Recurring Transactions
I prefer to organize my Recurring Transactions in a certain way, mainly from largest to smallest. For example, mortgage, daycare, loans, home utilities, etc. However, it seems you’re stuck with however they come out in the list (based on how they were entered). It would be nice to have the ability to shuffle them around as someone seems fit, to keep things more organized, more customized for the end user.
Re: Unable to change the category on a linked refund (edited)
@cloudquick It's possible that your transaction is linked to an invoice and that such linkage has something to do with your inability to delete the transaction or change the category. But I'm out of my depth here and will have to leave it to someone who has experience with the invoicing system.

Re: Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) connection to Simplifi is broken - FDP-102 error (edited)
1- I made sure that I had direct access to my TSP account.
2- I deleted my account from Simplifi
3- I reset my connection as if it was a new addition.
4- is being working fine since. Hope this helps, my friend.
