Ability to customize 'Most Used Categories' (edited)

Hello, I would be super helpful if we could modify/edit the most used categories to add the categories we actually use most often at the top of the dropdown menu. Having most used categories at the top which are not the categories that are most used forces you to have to move down the list and actually is more cumbersome. If we could modify the list to have what we actually use most there it would be fantastic!!! Thank you very much!!

This would be so helpful! new user here, and overwhelmed with all the options! Silly me, thought "Simplifi" actually meant simple. Just trying to keep a clean accounting all all me expenses and income for the tax man.

Another way to handle this would be to get rid of the "Most Used Categories" section of the dropdown menu and replace it with a "Favorite Categories" section that works like a typical "Favorites…" list in other apps.

That is, when the user marks an item as a "Favorite," it shows up in the section. Otherwise it doesn't. That would put it entirely under the user's control.

This is an interesting feature request. It fits in with other user selectable customization requests like being able to customize the order of accounts list.

I'm not privy to how the Most used list is generated. Is it based on all time or within a certain timeframe, say the past month, past two weeks or yesterday. But it is based on some measure of what categories I have used MOST during some period of time and thus it is an accurate list. Helpful? I don't know, I tend to use the dropdown list if I need to change the category for a transaction. Is there a better use of this feature? This request suggests there is at least for some.

Perhaps if adopted, it would be helpful to also change the name from "Most used" to "Priority Categories" or some such since the list is currently based on the actual most used categories within, again I'm supposing, a certain time frame.

As far as the "complexity" of the category dropdown list goes, that already is user defined and controlled since it reflects the user defined category structure.

I really like this idea and have thought of something similar. I like the idea of making it like a Favorite categories list.

I sometimes find the most used options helpful and sometimes feel annoyed by them. There is a lot of benefit of having a recommended selection list, but I would prefer that abbreviated list to be displayed in alpha order still and I don’t think it currently is. Another way to filter the recommended category list is to list categories previously used for that payee. I used another app for a long time that listed “previously used” above the full alpha list and more often than not, the category needed was in the previously used list.
