Note Icon Indicator (edited)

You cannot know which transactions have a Note in them without opening them.

  • Include a Note icon like πŸ“ or πŸ“’ next to the transaction line to show that it has additional information in the note.
  • Make the note available as tooltip on the icon so you don't have to open the transaction to read the note.

    Hello @orad,

Thanks for reaching out! I have migrated your post from feature requests as this feature already exists within Quicken Simplifi. All you need to do is enable the notes column in your account register by selecting the gear in the top right and checking the 'Notes' option. This will allow you to see what notes you have for each transaction in-line.

    I hope this helps!

I noticed you can select Notes by clicking the Grear βš™ icon on the top right of the Transaction Activity table which includes the note in the transaction view. It looks like Notes in Simplifi are more like one-line memos than multiline notes. I preferred if I could add multi-line notes and instead of seeing the note text in the transaction line, only see a πŸ“’Β icon and view the note in a tooltip (when I hover over the icon). Maybe we should distinguish between notes and memos?

    Hello @orad,

If you wanted to create an idea post for a specific memo field in Quicken Simplifi, that would be something we could possibly get added!

I actually like @orad 's original Idea - even if it wasn't intentional. For space saving, it would be nice to offer three options in the transaction register regarding notes (1.) Show the note in the column. (2.) Show just a note icon in the column. (3.) Hide everything related to notes.

I'd vote for that if this were turned back into an Idea Post!

    Hello @Flopbot,

If the idea being requested is just to add a note icon to the transaction in-line, I could have this migrated back to an idea post. Is this what you are wanting to request @orad?

OK, I tried it again and I see I get the tooltip too. So I think I have what I need but still would be useful to show an icon as an indicator when a transaction includes a note. Basically, show ('πŸ“’ '+ transaction.note) in the transaction table.

    Hello @orad,

I have converted this post into an idea post once again for the idea of adding a note icon to the account register.

    Thanks,

Yes, the πŸ“’ icon is much more eye-catching and concise than a few words from the note, and it serves the purpose.

I upvoted the idea. To save space on the transaction list, allow an icon with a tooltip displaying the note for users who do not select note as part of their field setup.

Does this feature request apply for the web app, mobile app, or both? @Coach Jon

I prefer @Flopbot's suggestion of having flexible options. On desktop, I really like having the notes displayed and would hate for the current view to be removed, although I do wish there was an auto-wrap option instead of the tool tip so the full notes could be displayed. For mobile, I would love for there to be a note icon as suggested at minimum, but having the option to include the note details also appeals to me since I tend to use notes a lot.

I like the idea of having a separate selectable column (from notes) called "Note indicator" which would show an icon only if the trimmed length (meaning extra spaces removed at beginning and end of string) was greater than zero. This way I could select (1) Note indicator, (2) Notes, or (3) Both note indicator and notes.
