Back to Basics, please - investment accounts with multiple FIs can't connect [Edited]

With all the recent talk about investments, portfolios, and the retirement planner, my opinion is that all of it is nearly useless if I can't connect to my financial institutions. Simplifi is supposed to simplify; if I needed very detailed investment tools that can handle cash accounts, dividend reinvestment, tax planning, etc, then I can use Quicken (which I formerly did.) Sure, add features that make it more complicated if people want that - and sure go ahead and raise the subscription price to pay for those features - but ABOVE ALL, keep the connectivity working or it's meaningless. Have a look at my Investments status (attached); the only one without an error is because it's a manual account that has NEVER successfully connected despite detailed debugging sessions.

    Hello @PJLmoney,

Thank you for sharing your experience. To help troubleshoot, I checked our internal tools for insights into the connection errors you're encountering.

For the Vanguard account, it appears that you are using the zzz-Vanguard - Personal Investors connection option. The zzz at the start of that connection option indicates it is no longer an active connection. Have you tried using one of the other connection options with Vanguard?

If you have, what happened when you attempted to connect? If you have not, then please make your Vanguard accounts manual (for directions, click here), add your accounts (for directions, click here), then carefully link them to the correct names in Quicken Simplifi (for directions, click here).

For the Voya accounts, I can see that you are getting a FDP-106 error. What error message/code do you see on your end when you try to update/connect these accounts? It appears that the accounts were connected and successfully updating until around the middle of this month. Does that match what you saw on your end? If not, then when did you first encounter this issue? If you haven't already done so, please troubleshoot this FDP-106 error by making the accounts manual (for directions, click here), adding your accounts (for directions, click here), then carefully linking them to the correct names in Quicken Simplifi (for directions, click here).

For the Nationwide account, I can see Account not found errors. Was the account previously connected/updating, or have you always gotten errors when trying to add it?

I look forward to your reply!

Thank you for the advice to get Vanguard working again, I used another connection and it's all set now,

For LiveWell, which is Sammons, which is midlandnational.com, I have two cases already: one from October 2024 that's been closed, and one from March 2025 that's still open. I have never had this account successfully connect.

For Nationwide, which at one time was working, I tried to make it manual then reconnect as advised. It failed to reconnect, I got either FDP-105 or -106, depending on which nationwide.com option I use. Sometimes the reconnect dialog box will say "Nationwide is reporting connection issues… we are investigating the issue"; but sometimes it doesn't. I know there is an open alert for this problem since June. My account now shows a zero balance somehow since trying the reconnect.

Problems with TIAA and Voya are sporadic. They may work for some days or weeks, stop working for days or weeks, then work again for a while without any intervention. My screenshot showed they both had errors on 8/23, but they are both okay as of 8/24; I didn't even try to reconnect. This happens often with these connections (and with some non-investment accounts like Venmo and HSAbank.)

On an unrelated issue, I continue to experience what I think is related to a known issue with "Changes to Recurring Series Exclusions" which has been open since March 2024. When I say "Back to basics" I mean this kind of stuff as well as the FI connections. Core functionality should be a given in a subscription product, before rolling out beta features that only subsets of users are asking for.

I do appreciate your time and support, despite my increasing frustration with the product itself.
