Recurring Series Removed When Re-connecting Account on Mobile App

Hi,

I'm unsure if this belongs in the bug section or product feedback, so please advise if I've posted in the wrong area. After testing, this issue only occurs in the Simplifi Mobile app. The desktop version behaves as expected.

I lost all recurring series for the accounts associated with a bank (FI) I reconnected to resolve an account error requiring Simplifi to re-establish connection with my FI. I believe I lost these recurring series due to the way the re-connection process happens in Simplifi Mobile vs. Simplifi Desktop.

Once the accounts associated to the FI were re-connected, Simplifi Mobile prompted me to select the accounts I want to add. I selected and linked the found accounts to their pre-existing accounts and clicked the "Confirm" button to continue the re-connection process. After doing so, Simplifi Mobile proceeded with adding and linking the accounts. I received a success message once it was complete.

After clicking the "Continue" button, on the success message screen, I'm presented with a screen to "Verify recurring bills & transfers". Here, I was shown all existing (cancelled or active) recurring bills & transfers for the accounts. I had the option to "deselect any you don't want tracked as recurring". I deselected everything as I thought duplicate recurring bills & transfers would be created for the accounts. I was surprised to get this screen since I don't receive the prompt when re-connecting accounts on Simplifi Desktop. However, I proceed just to avoid any possibility of duplication/messiness.

After deselecting what I thought were duplicate "recurring bills & transfers" I clicked continue and Simplifi Mobile took me back to the "Accounts" area in Settings.

Afterwards, I found all recurring bills and transfers (series) were wiped clean (removed) from the accounts. The only trace I have of them are the renamed transactions previously associated to the series. That doesn't do much good for the many historical series I had though.

I spoke to support and the only solution was to recreate the various series.

To summarize:

Problem: Simplifi Mobile prompts the user, when re-connecting accounts associated to an FI, to "Verify recurring bills & transfer" that already exist under the accounts. If the user deselects any of these "recurring bills & transfer" options, they're completely removed from the users account.

Steps to Recreate on Simplifi Mobile without an account error prompt:

  1. Open Simplifi Mobile and navigate to your "Settings"
  2. Under settings, select "Accounts"
  3. Find a Bank (FI) with Accounts that have both current and historical (canceled/ended) "recurring bills & transfers"
  4. Click the stacked three dots for this account to access additional options.
  5. Select the "Reset connection" option
  6. Follow the steps to reset the connection and re-connect the FI
  7. Link the accounts from your FI to the pre-existing accounts in Simplifi Mobile and select "Continue"
    1. Verify the accounts are linked to their original pre-existing accounts before selecting "Continue"
  8. Once this completes, click "Continue" on the success message received
  9. You'll now be prompted to "Verify recurring bills & transfers" and asked to "deselect any you don't want tracked as recurring"
  10. Deselect the various "recurring bills & transfers" show for the account then click "Continue"
  11. You may be presented with another success screen. If so, click "Continue". Otherwise, you'll be taken back to the "Accounts" screen under Settings

At this point, you should see that all of the deselected "recurring bills & transfers" from step 10 no longer exist under Recurring Series nor do they show under the "Bills & Income" area or the account. However, all transactions that were previously associated with that series should (from what I can tell so far) still exist.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hoping this saves others the headache I'm having trying to set up my recurring series again.

EDIT: I forgot to include. This was on the iOS Simplifi Mobile app version 5.38.1 with Early Access enabled.
