Investment transactions don't appear in Transaction Activity for Net Worth

Accounts are organized in a hierarchical manner.

  • Net Worth is at the top with Banking, Investments, Assets, and Liabilities underneath it.
  • Similarly, Banking has Cash & Checking, Credit, and Savings underneath it.
  • And so on. (See image to right)

When I click on Banking, I see all the transactions for the included account sections — Cash & Checking, Credit, and Savings.

When I click on Net Worth, I would expect to see all the transactions for Banking, Investments, Assets, and Liabilities. But I don't.

For example, I transferred funds between a Savings account and a Brokerage account. I expected that both sides of this transfer would appear in the Transaction Activity list. But only the Savings side of the transfer showed up. But it exists when I look into Brokerage transactions directly.

Is this by design? Or is something wrong?

    Yes, I think it is because Investment transactions are just basically ignored and Net Worth just adds up the account value that is reported daily.

    Even the Payment/Deposits don't show up, which I can only put down to the fact that originally nothing in Investment accounts was counted. Now we can include deposits/payments in the Spending Plan/Reports so this seems to be a vestigial leftover (I think I am being redundant here).

    @SRC54

    I'm not talking about adding anything up. As you know, the account balances aren't arrived at by adding up the transactions anyway (except for manual accounts). That's not the purpose of the Transaction Activity lists.

    What I am talking about is seeing all the relevant transactions in the Transaction Activity list when I click on different levels in the Account hierarchy.

    • If I click on Credit I see all the credit transactions. That's good.
    • If I move up a level and click on Banking I see all the transactions from the sublevels below Banking — Cash & Checking, Credit, and Savings. That's good too.
    • But if I move up another level and click on Net Worth I don't see all the transactions from the sublevels below Net Worth. Why?

    I understood what you were saying. I think that Simplifi as it was originally designed didn't include the transactions from investment accounts, and that is why they aren't included in all transactions.

    I agree that they should be. At least, the payment/deposits ought to show up even if they want to ignore the buys/sells. This is my guess.
