Is deleting transaction history permanent? (edited)

I am new to Simplifi, but a current Quicken Classic customer.

I am working on a backfill from Classic to Simplifi. I made a few mistakes and it would be easier to delete some of the history transactions and start over.

I know that in Classic if I do that, it will not allow me to add it again. Does the same occur with Simplifi. I did not delete yet, trying to avoid further migration issues.

Thank you!

    Hello @lynchbro,

    Thank you for reaching out! To clarify, what method are you using to fill in these transactions? Are you downloading from the financial institution, importing a CSV file, or using some other method? If you are importing using a CSV file, you may need to slightly change the CSV file name, so that Quicken Simplifi will let you import it again.

    I look forward to your response!

    @lynchbro ,

    It's important to note that your current account balance and the projected balance chart at the top of your check register is not affected by the presence of any particular past transaction. Yes, Simplifi relies on future transactions to keep an accurate future balance chart. However, if one or two past transactions get deleted by accident, it's not the end of the world; unlike with Quicken Classic.

    Personally, I love this about Simplifi!

  • I am doing a CSV upload for some accounts, and some are downloads from the banking institution directly

    Hello @lynchbro,

    Thank you for the reply! If imported transactions from a CSV file are deleted, you will have to manually create the transaction. Re-importing the deleted imported transaction to the same account will not restore the transaction.

    For manual accounts, Quicken Simplifi calculates the balance based on the sum of all entered transactions. With connected accounts, the balance comes from the bank directly, as @Flopbot mentioned.
