Rename 'Check #' to "Check/Reference #" (edited)

As I work more with Simplifi, there are times when the payments have a reference number or confirmation number, such as from the payment by telephone with a confirmation number, payment advice reference, statement, or another type of reference number. With the Check # already in the transaction screen, a simple change from “Check#” to “Check/Reference#” would make this field more usable. Not many checks are issued at this present time.

User advantages would be (1) the check number and reference number can be searchable and (2) the user can do the attachment and will not have to keep a separate file unless desired.

There are no program logic changes, just a field maker on the screen as well as in the transaction listing.

    Hello @Dick_Davis,

I converted your post into an idea post, as it looks like you are requesting a change to the Quicken Simplifi application regarding the Check # field. This way, other users can pitch in on the idea and vote for it if they would like.

Are reference/confirmation numbers issued by the payee provided to the bank for such a transaction? If so is included in the bank data downloaded to QS? If not, how would the reference/confirmation number be added to the transaction? Would this be a manual entry by the user? If so, why not use the existing Notes field which is already searchable?

@dannyb from what I have experienced, these reference/confirmation numbers are issued by the payee such as when you call and make a payment to a doctor. If these are part of the bank data downloaded, that is a question for the Simplifi techies to answer as well as can their aggregator provide such. From the way I see it, this is a manual entry by the user, if they want to use this field. I have been doing this since June and found it easier as I don't write checks or receive checks. The same can be done when a check is received. This would be just a screen field label change.

If you wanted to modify this so it added a new 'reference #' then I would be for it, but I'm not sure i'm for repurposing the check # field.

I mostly think this is a great idea, too many times i make payments or request refunds on the phone and am giving a long reference number i never know what to do with, storing it in the transaction would seem ot make things oraganized better.

I would probably put something like that into the Notes field, myself
