Recurring deposit reminder dropped from checking "register"

Every month about a week before a recurring deposit (income) is about to occur quicken drops the reminder from the checking account and so it looks like I'll be overdrawn that week or later. This has started happening in the past few months. Simplifi is starting to remind me of the buggiest software I used in the past, Quicken desktop for Windows.

    Hello @MikeBtp,

Thanks for reaching out! To help clarify your situation, can you let us know whether the recurring reminder disappears after it is linked to a transaction, or if it disappears at random? Additionally, Quicken Simplifi automatically links newly downloaded transactions to reminders and usually does a great job. However, there are times when some transactions are linked incorrectly. Is the reminder being linked incorrectly? Let us know!

Every month one or more of my Recurring Income Reminders gets dropped from the checking registry which then shows a negative balance. Even when I have corrected this one day the next time I go into Simplifi it is dropped again. Unbelievable!!!

It disappears at random but almost regularly with one recurring income (Social Security) that hasn't yet occurred. I just added another issue about this because I couldn't find this one to add to. A couple of days after I corrected the disappearing reminder (today) it was gone again.

Sometimes the reminder does get linked correctly but sometimes I have to do it manually.

    Thank you for your replies,

When did you first notice this issue? Is this happening in the web app, the mobile app, or both?

Is it possible that the missing reminders are incorrectly matching to an incorrect transaction? If so, enabling amount matching may help. For more information, please see this article: https://support.simplifi.quicken.com/en/articles/9174873-amount-matching-for-recurring-transactions#h_465b65f031

    I hope this helps!

The problem is more along the lines of the Reminder in the Checking "Register" disappears from the group of reminders a few days or a week before the transaction occurs. The image I've attached shows the Reminder of the SSA Income Transaction will occur in 2 days (or it could be several days). This is after I corrected the Reminder that was dropped or disappeared. When that happens, the income/expense graph above the Reminders in Checking for the next few days is way off because that SSA Income amount has been dropped whereas all other Reminders (mostly Expense) are still there so I get notices of very low balances when in reality that's not the case. This is in the Web app. I rarely use the mobile app. This has been occurring for a few months but it seems to be intermittent and random. Since the Transaction has not occurred yet there is nothing to match.

@MikeBtp, thanks for the additional information!

I wonder if something could be going on with the Recurring Series itself. You might consider deleting and recreating it, or ending the current one and creating a new one, to see if it works correctly going forward. The latter option (ending the current series and creating a new one) may be the best path if you have very many historical transactions linked to the series.

Let us know if this works for you!

    I'll try it.

I deleted the recurring and added it back last month and it showed in the checking register to occur on 3/18 until today. I get an email that states that "I've gotten paid" and it should be in pending but it is gone completely. The recurring in the check register is gone and it has not shown up in pending yet.

When I go look at it in recurring and it shows the next deposit will occur in mid-April, not next week. What's worse, I correct that recurring transaction to March 18, save it then go back to the checking register and it still doesn't show. I then need to go back to the recurring and correct it AGAIN before it gets fixed. Very buggy software. I was hoping the bugginess of quicken for windows was not carried over to Simplifi but I guess I was wrong.

    Thank you for your reply,

Is this happening in the web app, the mobile app, or both? If you haven't done so already, please try logging out, then logging back into Quicken Simplifi. Sometimes, that corrects unusual behaviors.

Please let me know how it goes!

Hmm. That is annoying. You say you got a Simplifi message that it was deposited? Did you look in Bills and Incomes to see if the transaction is there or in the Spending Plan? Just in case it became a future dated transaction. Probably not, but just a suggestion.

I got an email on the 14th with the subject "Cha-ching. You got paid." And in the body: "Hi Michael,
    You received $$$.
Social Security Deposit+$$$Checking xxxx Date: Mar 18, 2026".

Then I open Simplifi and the reminder in the Checking registry is gone. I didn't look in Bills and Income. This seems to happen mostly with this transaction, even after deleting it and re-adding it.

But today is the 16th? And you are sure it isn't in your transaction list or anywhere as a future dated transaction. So the email was erroneous. You should get it Wednesday. I get SS payment on Wednesday too. That is weird.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

    Hello @MikeBtp,

Thanks for the reply! As @SRC54 stated above, I would definitely have you verify whether the transaction isn't already in your register or if it was linked to another transaction. Can you also let us know whether the same issue occurs in the mobile application?

Hi @MikeBtp, I just had a thought. Do you have one of those banks that allows you to access your direct deposit early? I never knew how that worked. Is it possible that the bank somehow let you know that it had "cleared" so you could use the funds but the actual real deposit is still the 18th?

Maybe they don't really deposit it early; they just add it to your available balance? OTOH, Social Security probably wouldn't come in 4 days early. Just some ideas.

I'll leave you in Coach Jon's hands now.

I'll keep an eye out for this to see. I think it shows up as pending at the bank a few days earlier but not sure exactly when funds are available.
