Zero balance for manual liability account (edited)

I have a manual account for which the balance is zero. It's a liability account. The total does not match the manual entires any longer. Re-sync balances doesn't work and I don't want to delete and re-add because I would need to manually add two years worth of transactions again.

    Hello @mizwhyt,

Thanks for reaching out! Could you please share a screenshot showing the balance mismatch on your side? What should the account balance be? Does adding a transaction update the balance at all? Let us know!

    Hi Coach Jon,

The total balance as of Oct 31, 2025 (which is where I left off when the issue occured on Feb 11) should be -

$308,258.47. It was working normally until I tried to link and then unlink the account on line. I did not know before linking that it would only show the balance, not the monthly transactions. At first all was fine when I unliked the account again, but about 10 mins later when I added a new transaction the balance went to zero. I expressed an issue at the time while I was being helped with an agent in chat, but was not offered a soluiton. I was merely told "zero balance is a known issue right now."

    Screenshot attached.

Perhaps when I was helped with "undoing " the connection I established, something broke because it seems that now Home Loan and Freedom Mortgage are listed under liabilities. Previously I only had one line categorized as a Home Loan but named Freedom Mortgage. Perhaps this is contributing the zero balance problem. If it could go back to how it was before I tried to link the account on Feb 11, we would be in good shape.

    Thanks.

    Hello @mizwhyt,

Thanks for the information. Can you provide a screenshot of how this account appears under Settings > Accounts in Quicken Simplifi? Additionally, I know you stated you already re-synced your balance, but did you do it via the "Re-sync Balance" button? Using this option should usually fix an issue like this.

yes, I tried the re-sync balance button on both lines (home loan and freedom mortage) and neither fixed the issue.

Maybe its more accurate that I should delete the Freedom mortgage account from my account list and leave only the manual one that says Home Loan and rename it again to Freedom Mortgage?

    Hello @mizwhyt,

To clarify, does the "Home Loan" account have the history you want to keep? If so, then removing the Freedom Mortgage account may resolve the issue being reported here. Just make sure you are not deleting both accounts.

They both seem to have the same history.

Well that didn't work. I only deleted Freedom Mortgage on the accounts page. Now both are gone including the manual account Home Loan. :( Is there any way to restore the transactions that were in that account prior on 2/10/2026? Everything was correct at that time. Otherwise I have to enter two years worth of data manually.

    Hello @mizwhyt,

You may have accidentally deleted the Financial Institution itself, rather than a single account, from the sounds of it. If you are able to get a CSV file from your bank's website, you should be able to import your transactions into Quicken Simplifi directly. https://support.simplifi.quicken.com/en/articles/4413430-how-to-manually-import-transactions#h_a40057a0e7

I will see what I can do, I guess. There was nothing else I could do inside "accounts" other than what I did. It all seems to stem back to connecting and then disconnecting automated updates from the mortgage company.

    A few comments.

    1. When Freedom Mortgage became available as an automated account (it was not available when I started using Simplifi), during the "add account process," it would have been extremely helpful before connecting the account to receive a pop-up window stating that the only thing that would be imported was the total balance. Not individual transactions. I would not have added the account. That was not obvious until after I linked the account and all the transactions disappared.

    2. I immediately asked for help on 2/11 as to how to reverse what was done. The steps seemed to work, I had a correct balance showing again as well as all the historical transactions were back when I was done, it only changed to Zero after I added the next principal payment transaction manually. When I asked for help again at that time, I was told it was part of a known issue (this does not seem to be part of the same issue). It would have been helpful for the person I worked with on 2/11 to have perhaps dug a bit deeper and maybe I could have solved the issue correctly with assistance that day.

    Hello @mizwhyt,

I know we did originally have a known issue for this specific issue, but it was recently resolved. I would verify if you can import a CSV file containing those transactions and let us know if that works for you! Thank you for your feedback!

In your image below, I don't think "Home Loan" is an actual account. Instead, it is a type of account under which only one actual account is listed, namely "Freedom Mortgage."

This is the same thing you see up higher in the Accounts list, where (for example) you see the type of account Banking, which includes the type of account Cash & Checking. In the image below, under Cash & Checking, two real accounts are listed. Those are the only two actual accounts in this image. So I think "Freedom Mortgage" was the only actual account you had under Liabilities in that image.
