Display issue in the savings report for accounts with parentheses in the name (edited)

When you go into the Savings report the balance is shown correctly by month as you mouse hover over the graph when the breakdown is set to "by none". But if you change the breakdown to "by account" and mouse hover over the indvidual lines, the begining part of the account name will appear but will have $[object Object] behind it instead of the dollar value. The total above for all accounts combined appears correctly. This is in the web version on Chrome.

I have seen this behavior months ago and it has not been resolved. I intended to report it to support via Simplifi message on the web app but never got around to it. I reported the behavior via this community.

@Technomutt & @UrsulaA, thanks for posting to the Community!

I'm not personally seeing any issues with the graph hover tooltips in the Savings Report. I've changed the Breakdown to 'By account', I've filtered to specific accounts, and I've tried different Date Range options. With that, can one of you please provide more details as to what specifically you're doing to make the "$[object Object]" pop up in the graph? Also, have either of you tried in incognito mode or from a different browser to see if the issue is perhaps related to your primary browser?

Please let us know so we can best assist!

I am in incognito mode on Microsoft Edge and the "$[object Object]" text appears on the by account view. This only happens with connected accounts. My manual accounts show the balance correctly on the chart.

    @UrsulaA, thanks for the reply!

Do you want me to report what you're seeing as a dataset-specific bug? If so, we'll need you to provide proof of the issue and narrow things down a bit. When narrowing things down, we need to know things like:

    • The Breakdown used for the Report when the issue is present.
    • The Date Range used for the Report when the issue is present.
    • Any Filters that are applied to the Report that cause the issue to be present.
    • Any other parameters that can be identified that cause the issue, or don't cause it.

    We will also need:

    1. Screenshots of the issue.
    2. The browser and browser version you're accessing the Quicken Simplifi Web App from (primary browser, not testing browsers).
    3. The OS of the computer you're accessing the Quicken Simplifi Web App from.

We will also need logs submitted:

    1. Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
    2. Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
    3. With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback
    4. Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.

    Here you go

    • The Breakdown used for the Report when the issue is present.
      • By account. Totals show OK, but account values do not. Accounts in question are Checking and Marcus.
    • The Date Range used for the Report when the issue is present.
      • This month, issue occurs with any time period selected
    • Any Filters that are applied to the Report that cause the issue to be present.
      • None
    • Any other parameters that can be identified that cause the issue, or don't cause it.

Also, both the Marcus and Checking account do not have any imported transactions from CSV files. Both have imported balance history. The historical manual accounts Mint Assets and Cash, have no issues displaying balances in the report.

    @UrsulaA, thank you!

Is there anything unique about the Marcus and Checking accounts, such as a higher balance than the other savings accounts in the report, or are they the only accounts you imported balance history into, etc.? Also, if you filter the report to just one or both of those accounts, is the issue still present? And what about filtering to a different account, does the issue then pop up for that account?

Nothing unique in terms of balances. These are not the only accounts I imported balances to, I imported balances to Mint Assets and Cash.

If I filter to the Checking or Marcus account, the issue persists on the account tag but not the total balance. See example for checking. The Marcus account looks the same.

The manual cash account, which has imported transactions and balances, does not present this issue.

I just spent the last 20 minutes typing a very detailed reply explaining what I just found. I guess that was too long and I lost the whole thing when I tried to post. First, it does the same thing in Firefox. What I've found is that everything imported from Mint has the word (imported) stuck to the end of the account name. It's the parenthesis that are causing the problem, not the length of the name. Remove the parenthesis, and the problem is solved!

Thanks so much @Technomutt - I removed the parenthesis from the account name and the chart works as intended. Good troubleshooting!

@Technomutt, yes, great troubleshooting! And thanks for confirming the issue, @UrsulaA.

I was now able to reproduce this in my own dataset! I got the issue reported and will let you both know when we hear back.

Thanks @UrsulaA and @Coach Natalie for your kind words. I work in IT, so troubleshooting is a way of life. And I do love the irony of the new, (edited), title of this thread!

Hey everyone, a fix for this issue can be expected with the 4.25.0 Web Release.

    Thanks!

I tested this on web release 4.25.0 and it works. Parentheses are accepted in account names on the savings report.
