Hello, I wanted to ask almost the same question but then I saw this post. Is it now possible to do this in Quicken?
Here is the question I wanted to ask:
I am interested in testing the Quicken app. But before starting my test, I have a question:
I would like to know if it is possible to create categories that would be of the type "income" AND "expenses" at the same time, and that could apply to all types of banking operations.
Example: I receive 1000 euros as a gift, then I send 500 euros to my wife. The 1000 euros received should be in the "gifts" category. But the -500 euros given should ALSO be in the "gifts" category. Quicken should perform the subtraction in this single category, because in the end, the gift, for me, is only the 500 euros that I keep.
The "reimbursement linked to an expense" functions are not suitable for this kind of thing.
So please tell me if this is possible? Thanks,
David

Yes, you can enter positive and negative amounts regardless of if the transaction type is considered an income or an expense.
