Credit card Pending Transactions posting as credits instead of debits

My credit Union recently changed their system (and the transactions are being posted correctly from their end) and now pending credit card transactions are posting as credits , and vice versa for credits, until cleared when they revert to charges. I have a ticket opened and keep reporting the problem but it's a mental issue for me not being able to see a true balance pending for a couple days. Does anyone else have this happen and how have you fixed it? I see I can go into the transaction and use the +/- to correct it but that's annoying when I have a large number of transactions.

Good morning @L McGregor I think that other than fixing them yourself as you described, you just have to wait until Simplifi or the Bank fixes the problem. I've assume you've tried to disconnect the account and then reconnect it?

If you haven't, that is what I would do. You could also try editing the account to a cash account and then changing it back to a credit account. Probably wouldn't work but might be worth a try.

There is a recently reported issue where some pending transactions are doubled until the second refresh after they clear.

However, what you describe may be specific to your FI. You'd have to report which FI was doing it, and if you;re interested, i think they call it a (partial maybe in your case) reverse register, when charges are credits and vice versa. Know that a third party manages the FI connections and the best Quicken can do is file a report with them. They have little control over priority for a particular request.. Priority depends on the size of the FI.

I used FI (Financial institution) rather than bank here, since you mentioned it was a CU.

  • Thank you for giving me the terminology, reverse register. The FI already confirmed it's reporting correctly so something is happening on the Simplifi end. Fwiw, the debit card transactions from this FI report correctly.

  • @SRC54 thank you for the suggestions. I have already disconnected and reconnected. I'll try the edit cash to cc idea.

That's interesting that they're right when they are debit card. Is this true for the debit card transactions without a PIN number too? So checks (uh, share drafts) and other transactions have the signs wrong? Plain weird. (So far I've only had this happen once or twice in a download, and I corrected them. Fortunately, the problem didn't persist.).

Another thing you could do is just delete the pending transactions if you don't want to change them. But don't you have to edit them anyhow to categorize them, so you could reverse them then? I'm always fascinated by how people use Simplifi. I have to deal with each transaction as it comes in anyhow as I am very particular about Payee, Date, etc.

I hope it gets fixed soon.

  • Oh, I will try and delete them. It's surprising to me how much it affects me not knowing the balance is correct.

RE the debit card is correct whether I use the pin or not.
