hi this site looks very helpful.

We are in Canada using only Canadian RBC

we’ve been using Quicken on an MacBook Pro which is now too old to receive either Quicken or Apple updates.

Since I must buy a newer apple laptop if I want to keep using Quicken my question … can I use Simplifi on a new Apple IPad to update banking transactions?
I want to download banking account entries, assign categories and run reports

thanks Larry

    Hello @LarryOld,

Thanks for reaching out! Our Quicken Simplifi mobile application does have iPad and Android tablet support. You can do all the things you listed here as well as more!

    I hope this information helps!

I logged on to the “get started” Simplifi section. It looks like I have to pay for a 1 year subscription before even trying out Simplifi. Is the fee is Canadian or US funds

@LarryOld Read the fine print, there used to be a 30 day moneyback guarantee, I don't know if it stilll exists. This app is great for my needs, even though from time to time the balances are screwy. For example, on the weekends Chase has issues that you'll only see if you manually enter transactions rather than waiting for them to download. There are current alerts here describing one issue with balances which they are looking into, and also remember it doesn't base the balance on a running balance column over time, but instead it gets the balance from your bank and applies any unapplied new transactions on top of the balance to get tooday's balance. Changing "cleared" transactions does not affect the balance.

    Hi @LarryOld

Quicken Simplifi is a great personal finance planning and tracking app, but it is NOT Quicken Classic and functions on a completely different platform and "philosophy."

Since Quicken Simplifi is Web based you should be able to access and use it (if you choose to subscribe) on your current MacBook Pro (via your preferred web browser), tablet and phone (via app).

I switched from Q Classic to Q Simplifi almost 3 years ago. One reason for the switch was that I no longer needed all the functionality of Q Classic and wanted something more focused and streamlined. When I discovered Q Simplifi (I tried out and looked into a number of the available options at the same time) I found in Q Simplifi what for me was and continues to be a great solution. What especially sold me on Q Simplifi is the Spending Plan module. All the other features are what you would typically expect in a personal finance/budget app, but for me the Spending Plan is the standout feature - an eloquent, straightforward, holistic way to plan and track my monthly and annual personal finances.

If you are looking for or need extensive reporting capabilities, be aware that Q Simplifi will not give you the flexibility or extensive choices that Q Classic provides. While you can customize the available reports to get at certain details of your income and spending, you cannot print, save, download or export these reports.
