Action Sort - Dates out of Sequence
I've done a search on a stock. I have sorted on Action. Why are the dates so messed up? Why is August 14, 2023 right under Sept 9, 2024?
Help understanding what's going on please. The stock associate with the search makes no difference. When I switch to Security / Payee sort the dates are in order. If I remove the Search Stock I still get dates out of sequence with Action sort selected.

Thanks for reaching out! You will want to sort by Date in order to have the dates shown in a specific ascending/descending order. The Action column just sorts by the specific action for that transaction, like Payment/Deposit for example.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I realize that sorting by dates will bring everything up by date. The way these dates come up makes no sense at all though.
Why the haphazard dating of the same Action and the same Security / Payee? I was expecting Simplifi to, at least, keep all Securities in some kind of order.
I guess I was expecting a built in function, like Excel, where the program looks at the Action sort and the Search feature.
This all circles back to trying to track down and delete duplicate and quadruplicate entries.

The way it "should" work in my opinion —
If you click sort on a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) column, where the entries are "the same" (i.e. "payment/deposit" here), it should sort within those columns by the order they were PRIOR TO you sorting by that column.
i.e. if you first sorted by date, then sorted by action, where action was the same it would be sorted by date (or "how it was" last).

I am not sure this requires fixing, as sorting by date and other columns is working as intended at this time. However, you could create an idea post to allow sorting by date automatically whenever an action of the same name is encountered, or an idea similar to what was suggested by @RobWilk. This would allow other users to vote on the idea and provide feedback as well.

Trust us @Coach Jon, this requires fixing. The way Simplifi sorts, as shown in my posted, is not at all useful.
I won't be using my time to create an Idea post as they don't seem to produce any results. I'll hope that @RobWilk will submit the idea as he seems to have an excellent grasp as to how a Sort should work.
