TIAA retirement account not registering

I added my TIAA account to Quicken Simplifi but only the brokerage account is added. My 403b and 401a accounts are not accessible. Has anyone seen this issue? Is there a fix?

Hello @cardcj,
Thanks for reaching out! To help clarify your situation, can you let us know if the accounts are not showing in the list of accounts found by Quicken Simplifi when you try to connect? It may be that the account type is unsupported with that bank instance. If you try in another browser/incognito mode, do the accounts show up then? Can you also provide a screenshot of the Add Account screen in Quicken Simplifi showing that the accounts in question are missing at account discovery?

Yes, that is the problem. I have three accounts with TIAA: a brokerage, a 401a, and a 403b. When I give my password to connect to TIAA, Simplifi only finds the brokerage account, it does not discover the other accounts.

Hello @cardcj,
Thank you for the follow-up and the requested information. I wonder if another instance may allow you to add the other two accounts. Have you tried any of the other TIAA instances in Quicken Simplifi?
Additionally, sometimes I have seen that the accounts themselves are not set up to be shared with a 3rd party service on the bank's website itself. I would also verify if your bank site has a setting like this to make sure.
If after trying these steps it still is not able to find the accounts, please supply the following information:
- Has there been any activity in the account in the last 90 days?
- Is the account considered an external account (i.e. are you redirected to a different website when selecting the account on the bank's website)? If so, what URL are you redirected to?
- Is the account a subtype of a different account?
- Has the bank made any recent changes to its website or sign-in process?
- Are you the owner of the account?
- The name of the account, as it appears on the bank's website.
- If the issue is occurring on an existing Quicken Simplifi account, the name of the account as it appears in Quicken Simplifi.
- A screenshot of the Accounts Summary page from the bank's website (the page that lists all accounts and balances - feel free to redact any private info) that has a wide enough scope to show the page URL (this must be taken from a web browser and not a mobile browser).
- A screenshot of the Add Account screen in Quicken Simplifi showing that the account in question is missing at account discovery.

Yes, I have tried that. I think the problem is not with TIAA because it works with Credit Karma.

No, the account is hosted on TIAA's web site and it works in Credit Karma. Is the account a subtype of a different account?
The 401a and 403b accounts have different account numbers, but they're all under my TIAA login and I can see them on TIAA's website.Has the bank made any recent changes to its website or sign-in process?
Not really. Are you the owner of the account?
Yes.The name of the account, as it appears on the bank's website.
See screenshot.

Hello @cardcj,
Thanks for clarifying! We will still need a screenshot of the Accounts Summary page from the bank's website (the page that lists all accounts and balances - feel free to redact any private info) that has a wide enough scope to show the page URL (this must be taken from a web browser and not a mobile browser). The last screenshot you sent looks like it may have been from a mobile application or browser.
Additionally, we will also need logs to be sent to us:
- Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
- Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
- With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback.
- Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.

Hello @Mr Greenjeans,
Thanks for reaching out! Can you clarify what specific issue you are having in more detail? This will help us determine what is occurring.

OK, I submitted a report on Simplifi. Here is the screenshot of TIAA's page.

I looked at the security preferences on the TIAA site and it doesn't seem to say anything about third-party access. I am able to link those accounts to my Edelman Financial Engines portal using Plaid.

Interestingly, while Edelman Financial Engines portal sees the retirement accounts, it does not see the Brokerage account, the opposite of the situation with Simplifi. So it does seem that TIAA has a funny way of making the accounts available.

Having exactly the same problem as @cardcj. As a further detail, this is a new change; I was previously able to see my employer sponsored retirement accounts in Quicken.

Hello @Mr Greenjeans,
Thanks for the reply. To help clarify your specific situation, were you able to add these accounts in Quicken Simplifi previously, and are they in a manual status currently if you were able to?

They were previously added but I lost them entirely when I deleted the account and tried to reconnect.

TIAA redesigned its website recently; maybe there are under-the-hood changes as well. I think this problem is related to the system created by Plaid to access third-party sites.

Yes, it works now. Thanks!
