Utilities categories incorrect under spending plan

I have transactions that have been tagged as utilities, and I can see them when I filter using "categories" and select "utilities", however when I filter this within "Spending plan", I do not see all transactions that I would expect to see.

I have been using "Utilities" under Spending plan for several months, and I noticed this bug only for the month of November.

    @vchan

    Where in the Spending Plan are you filtering for your "utilities" tag?

    When you say your filter for "categories" and select "utilities" are you saying you also have a utilities category as well as a utilities tag?

    In the Spending Plan, do you have any or all of your utilities set up as recurring bills or do you have a Planned Spending category to account for your utilities in the Spending Plan?

    @DannyB Sorry, I used the wrong keyword. I shouldn't have said "transaction have been tagged". I only use categories and 'utilities' that I referred to in my post is the categorization of such transactions.
    I realized that some of the transactions were automatically marked as recurring bills and such transactions don't show up under the categorized view under the Spending plan. I was able to workaround the issue by unmarking those transactions as recurring bills, after which they showed up under the spending plan. However I feel a recurring bill is still part of the spending plan and such transactions should show up in both places.

    Hello @vchan,

    Thanks for the reply! I am glad you found a solution that works for you. We also have a great support article that goes over how recurring transactions work in the Spending Plan: https://support.simplifi.quicken.com/en/articles/5142441-planned-spending-expenses-versus-recurring-expenses

    Hope this helps!

    @vchan The article @Coach Jon linked above is a great resource. Keep in mind that the Spending Plan is a planning tool built on a Fixed and Flexible type of budgeting platform. And although your expenses will be "tracked" in the Spending Plan as each month progresses in accordance with the Plan, that it not the Spending Plan's primary function.

    I suggest that you consider using Watchlist for tracking your monthly expenses as the Watchlists are set up for this purpose, to track specific spending by Categories, Tags or even Payees. Using Watchlists | Quicken Simplifi Help Center

    Here is one of many articles about using a fixed and flexible model for budget planning: https://www.forbes.com/advisor/banking/budgeting-fixed-expenses-vs-variable-expenses/
