Longtime Quicken classic user now on Simplifi

I have been on Simplifi for a hear now since switching over from Mint. Prior to Mint I had been a Quicken classic user simce its early DOS years back in the 1980’s. I really like what you have done with Simplifi, particularly the new ipad reformatting and appreciate you seem to be adding features to it regularly. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for introducing yourself. I too have used Mint and am a long time Classic user. I've been with Simplifi since 2021, but just renewed my Classic. I hope someday to use Simplifi exclusively.
What would you most like to see them add next to Simplifi? I want them to update Reminders so that they remember splits. Also, it would be great if one could click on a reminder to convert it to a transaction. I understand that Simplify will link it when it downloads the transaction, but I have a lot of Manual Accounts with Reminders, so this doesn't work.

Reminders remembering splits would be good, but maybe a question might be how it would handle non-exact matches? If it was more would it create an overflow split, if there were less, which splits would it take from? Small details, but they'd have to be addressed.

If designed the same as in Classic, you would just update the any variable split amounts. But you don't have to recreate every split every time.

Exactly, of course, it could be different but shouldn't be way different. I would update my reminder proactively if I knew it was going to change as I do presently in Classic. But if it's a few dollars off when it comes in, it is a quick fix.

Welcome! Not sure you’ll find this useful, but this post includes my very long-winded reasoning for switching from Quicken Classic to Quicken Simplifi. Summarizing that post, you made the right choice!

Yes, I did switch to Mint several years ago because I was having trouble with Classic bugs qnd difficulty downloading my financial transactions. I also tend to use my ipad more than my pc these days. When Mint ‘went bust’ I decided to try Simplifi and have been pleased so far. As for my wish list. Simce I am retired and rely on investment income, I would like to see categories added for dividend income and portfolio management expenses and have these integrated into the existing reporting options for income and expense. It would also be nice to be able to create custom reports and be able to print reports similar to what I remember from Classic. Otherwise I am a happily satisfied Quicken customer.

I have investment income that supplements my income. It's in my brokerage account and since I spend the dividends, I don't reinvest them and they download correctly as payments. I created a Dividend category (two actually; one for taxable dividends and one for non-taxable). This way they show up in my Spending Plan and Reports.
I also created a reminder for them so they show up in my Spending Plan each month before I receive them. However, I have to delete the reminder each month since Simplifi won't link reminders to the Brokerage Account (at least it didn't used to; haven't checked this in a while). Admittedly, I only receive 3-5 of these a month. If you have lots of these, it may be more trouble for you to do.
