Multiple FI's FDP-185 error (edited)

Hello,

Until today, I've always been able to get my Venmo account to update in Simplifi. It would always require Simplifi triggering a MFA code texted to my phone, which I would enter into Simplifi, but this process never failed until today.

Today, Simplifi cannot trigger the Venmo MFA code to be sent to my phone. I receive this error message from Simplifi:

"Account needs attention

(Care code: FDP-185)

A multi-factor authentication is required to connect to your account at Venmo."

However, no MFA code is sent to me and Simplifi never goes to the screen where I would enter the MFA code. I've tried resetting the connection for this account and that didn't help either.

Please investigate and fix!

Thanks,
Scott

Experiencing the same thing, except for EverBank. So it seems like a general issue around MFA.

Thanks for sharing this! I just updated my Simplifi web app, so maybe the most recent update is causing MFA to fail?

Starting this morning (Friday, January 31, 2025), update for my Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) account stopped working.

The account requires MFA for each update. This morning I received an error that MFA is required, but there was no "pop-up" asking for me to initiate SMS MFA; instead there was an error stating that MFA is required.

    Specific error was FDP-185:

"A multi-factor authentication is required to connect to your account at Thrift Savings Plan."

But as I stated, there was no follow-up requesting how I want to receive the MFA nor any dialog to enter a MFA verification code value.

I tried a "Reset Connection", but after entering a userid and password, the Simplifi cursor spins for approx. 15 seconds, then stops and nothing happens.

I checked my credentials on the Thrift Savings Plan account and was able to successfully login.

This appears to be a Simplifi issue. Please take responsibility for investigating and fixing this.

    Thank you.

Follow-up note: I see that Duke0486 posted a similar discussion with the same Simplifi error code (FDP-185) for Venmo. They are not getting an MFA dialog just like I'm not getting one for Thrift Savings Plan. This makes me wonder if Simplifi broke the MFA process with a recent update. Please investigate and fix…

Experiencing the same MFA problem for Thrift Savings Plan. Probably a recent Simplifi update failure.

I am getting an FDP-185 error code that multi factor authentication is required to connect. However, no prompt to issue a code is popping up like it used to, so I can't do an MFA. Is there an issue with Citi Personal Wealth Management that is preventing MFA?

I am seeing similar issues with another account CIT Bank. It says it needs 2fac which normally works. I hit try again and nothing happens. I tried resetting the connection but just like this this NWPS account you enter credentials, hit link and nothing happens. No error, just nothing.

The linked post indicates that this issue is "resolved" but I am still encountering the error for both my TSP account and my credit union account.

    Hello @Sarah S.,

Thank you for letting us know you're still seeing FDP-185 errors. Is this happening in the Web App, the Mobile App, or both? What exactly is happening prior to seeing the error? For instance, are you getting the prompt for multi-factor authentication? Is the code arriving? Are you getting any window to put the code into? Which credit union are you seeing this error with?

I look forward to your response!

    -Coach Kristina
