Taxes Report is missing data for certain date ranges (edited)

Really weird. I think it’s just a buggy new feature that will get fixed soon. Though ATA transfers haven’t been fixed yet.

Hello everyone!
In order to get this organized and reported to our product team, we will need further information if you can please provide it:
- The specific date range you are using for your report where you see the issue.
- We will need proof/screenshots of tax-related transactions during that time range within Quicken Simplifi.
- Any specific filters that have been applied within the report.
- Screenshots showing the issue within the tax report in Quicken Simplifi.
- Please check in a different browser/incognito mode as well as the Quicken Simplifi mobile application to verify if you see the issue there as well.
Thank you,
Coach Jon

@Coach Jon An idea > I'm on basic Simplifi. Are others on B&P version?

I'm on basic.

@Coach Jon It's the same behavior in Chrome Version 133.0.6943.54 (Official Build) (arm64), Safari 18.3, MacOS 15.3. Incognito doesn't matter. I already posted the screenshots with the filters. Tags don't show up anywhere in my tax report; I don't use that many but the few I use aren't showing in any of my tax reports. I can send logs too. I'll just go ahead and send them.

Yes @Coach Jon All other date ranges are fine. I am on 4.44.0 Simplifi.

Sure @Coach Jon. 2023 shows nothing until I add filters for everything, but if I add tags, it gets weird and doesn't show deductions, only income.
I'll do new ones with numbers and DM.

@Coach Jon For kicks, I tried my blank results for 2024 and exported. It won't as there isn't data there.

Great feature, very useful if only I can see last years taxes, this is what I get:
No Results.
I do see results when I select the last 6 months and this year, and I know the data is there for all of 2024

My Tax Report problems exhibit a very similar disposition as SRC54. Initially, only report results showing for current year when no filters were applied then when ALL filters are applied, results from 2024 appear. However, I did not check the accuracy - I would think they might be suspect.
Some of the records had tags and others did not.
An additional test created additional odd results:
I deleted the tag "Tax Related" from my tag list then re-ran the identical tests. Results: NO results in current year; NO results in previous year even with all filters selected.
If I had to guess - something is wonky with "Tags". The Tax Report should not be querying on ANY tags however but rather on the new criteria "Tax Form & Line Item"
With DB backends I've worked with, this should be a simple query.
Note: Tests were run using Brave and Firefox with security off. Also same results in Private window for Brave. Simplifi Version: 4.44.0

And a warning to all tag users if you are thinking about removing/cleaning up "tax" tags once this Tax report feature gets fixed, you CANNOT bulk remove tags. You'll also see some "Unknown or NA" tag bugs that QS have not resolved as well. So bottom line, leave your tags alone until QS provides a fix.
I have hundreds of "tax related" tags that I'll remove but what till things get fixed.

re tags, this was going to be my temporary solution too, but I have too many transactions, and too many related categories to do this easily. And it's risky to be completely accurate when one is relying on the data for taxes. At this point my trust factor is dropping, and I'll be using a csv data dump to compare to the tax report come tax time. And unfortunately the csv doesn't include a field for anything related to the tax fields.
Sigh….

I've used a "tax related" tag all last year, so my CSV will be easy to sort fortunately.

BTW, for the fun of it, I compared my 2023 report from Quicken Classic with the 2023 report in Simplifi (with all Payees, Accounts and Categories selected), and the numbers were right. FWIW.

@Max1223 Weird, because you did it exactly as I did. All Payees, all categories, all accounts, didn't click on tags at all. If I choose tags, it is totally wrong and missing 75% of the transactions. I am now on 4.45.0, but it hasn't been fixed yet.

Well, the Simplifi Web App version is at the bottom of the Dashboard Page. On the Quicken Classic Web app, it's also at the bottom of the Dashboard. I don't use it much. @Max1223
And for good measure, the Quicken Classic Desktop Version on Mac is under Quicken:About Menu.

A note again for @Coach Jon
When I select the Last 6 months, I see data from last year. Unfortunately, since the report does not show dates, I can't tell if its truly the last 6 months or not.
Point is I have data from 2024, it shows up in this instance of last 6 months without having to use filters.
On a side note @SRC54 @RobWilk is it odd to you not have dates? Just wondering. Dates are helpful when double checking data, eg. did all my monthly business rent get logged, right now I have to manually count them, dates would more easily show a missing month. I know QS automatically puts that into the report, but I've made mistakes in the past where I didn't categorize correctly or accidentally changed the category and then they don't show up where I thought they would.

@Max1223 Well, customizable columns, including dates, would be 'nice', but the columns chosen fit the screen space well. Also, you can click on any transaction to see the full details including date. For tax purposes, i don't necessarily need the dates, only the year.

@Max1223 Yes, it is disconcerting not to have dates. I count them up. 12 paychecks, 12 interest payments, etc. And @RobWilk I didn't know you could click on a transaction to see full details because I had already tried it. I had to try on several to get some to open. I discovered that when the transaction is in a split, ie, paycheck, it won't open. Only the transactions without splits will open in the Tax Report. This is strange especially as it isn't true in other reports which show the splits.

And another thing about dates, I send a cleaned up CSV to accountants for tax purposes, so having dates in an export would be great as its a sortable column to help me check for accuracy and completeness.
@Coach Jon not sure if "adding dates" needs to be its own string or not, but it seems as if the Tax Report feature is not near prime time, so maybe this is something the product team can consider while working out the bugs.

I just exported a CSV for this year to see how the data looks. Its just a sheet that mimics the visual report in QS. Maybe I use spreadsheets differently, but I expect to be able to sort a sheet so I can view, hide, edit the sheet, make a pivot table, (google sheets now sorts groups of columns automatically for you if you have data in all the columns). Yes I can edit line individual cells or lines.
This is a view of the export, no dates, performing a sort will pretty much make the sheet unusable. Maybe this works to import into other tax programs or for a tax preparer, if so, then maybe offer a PDF export as well as it seems as there is no way to "print" this report.

On a good note, the Tax report has helped me clean up some of my Payee naming conventions! 😁
