Do we have the ability to remove an account without removing the past transactions?

I mistakenly "closed" a savings account within Simplifi thinking that would allow me to keep the past transactions but still have the ability to reopen it later if needed (which I later learned is not an option). So wondering: do we have the ability to remove an account without removing the past transactions? If I completely delete the account it would cause havoc on the prior months data.

    Yes, you can close the account BUT so far you cannot reopen it later as in Quicken Classic.

    @Springzy

    Opps, sorry, miss read your question.

    As stated in the article below and as @SRC54 points out closing an account in QS cannot be reversed.

    It sounds like you have already closed the savings account in QS.

    How much historical data is in QS for this account? Is that historical data still available to you on your bank web account?

    One thing that comes to mind if you want to reconnect to this account would be to export all your QS historical data for the account as a csv, delete the account, then reconnect the account and import the historical data for it back into QS. But I'd want some input from others before I tried this.

    You can try this…

    Thank you both @DannyB & @SRC54!

    DannyB - You're first answer before you edited it actually gave me an idea! It looks like even though I closed it, I can still rename it and turn it into a manual account. I'm going to try those two things, then see if it will let me add it back as a new account. I've only been using this a few months, so if it doesn't work I'll put this down as a lesson learned. I think your suggestion would work but I don't think the "juice is worth the squeeze" 😆. I'd consider it though if I had a good amount of months tracked. Thanks for the help!

    I misread it as well, which is why I hurried to warn you 😀. But it's a good learning experience.

    I remember when I was new to Simplifi that I wanted to start over with Amex so I deleted the Institution in the belief that I could then reconnect my account. NOPE. It deleted my account with it!!!! I lost 2 years of transactions. Lesson learned…

    It wasn't really that hard to reimport the transactions though of course, I had to reconnect all the transfers to my banks and edit the splits. Luckily I already had them in Quicken Classic and I didn't use the account but about once per month. Lucky me.

    So now I am more cautious. Good luck to you.

    PS There is a request here somewhere to have the ability to undo errors like this at least for 12/24 hours. I need to find that. It is worth upvoting.

    Quick update - my PNC connection continues to have issues so my attempts to add the "new" account has ended in a fun screen of spinning 😅. I'll keep trying and update this once I work things out!
