Modify [the community] to have a dedicated section for connection issues

It seems like most of the discussions in the "Recent Discussions" list are for bank-specific connection issues. Other functional issues are sprinkled in among the connection complaints.

I think it would make finding issues easier if connection issues had their own dedicated section. Those having connection problems could find similar issues more easily and those interested in other issues could scan current ideas more quickly.

    I might be wrong, but i think the 'recent discussions' come from boards you are following. I believe unfollowing those boards will help that. For example, I put a post this morning about a connection issue under 'troubleshooting', which you should be able to unfollow.

    @RobWilk "I might be wrong, but i think the 'recent discussions' come from boards you are following."

    I don't think so. I don't follow any boards, so I have none to unfollow.

    As an experiment, I tried following some boards. It made no difference in the "Recent Discussions" list. Then I unfollowed them. Again, no difference. So I think "Recent Discussions" is just what it sounds like, threads that have recent activity (or have been pinned as "Announcements" by the moderators).

    When I look at "Recent Discussions" right now, the first 11 posts are "Announcements," of which 5 are bank-specific issues. Of the remaining 30 on the first page, 13 are bank-specific issues. Overall, 18 of the posts are specific to a certain bank and 17 are issues of general applicability (the others are administrative in nature).

    Because bank-specific issues only affect those who use that particular bank, it might be better to have a different "recent bank issue" board for those where people who are having trouble with their bank could more easily find related posts. Then those who aren't having bank trouble could more easily browse other recent issues to learn about how QS works and how to use it to the best advantage.

    (I'm a recent convert, and I have learned a lot and avoided a lot of problems by simply browsing and reading what more experienced users — and the coaches — have to say.)

    @DryHeat, the Community already has a dedicated section for Current Online Banking Issues: https://community.simplifimoney.com/categories/current-online-banking-issues

    As well as a section for Known Product Issues: https://community.simplifimoney.com/categories/known-product-issues

    Otherwise, Recent Discussions is as you described — recent topics, with certain announcements pinned to the top. The Moderators keep the announcements cleaned up per our policies and procedures for announcing things in the Community.

    I hope this helps!

    @Coach Natalie

    Thanks for the quick response.

    I'm familiar with the dedicated sections. My suggestion was about the contents of the "Recent Discussions" listing, which I find kind of unwieldy because of the preponderance of connection issues.

    It doesn't sound like there's much interest in changing things, though. Probably I'm the only one bothered by it.

    @DryHeat, thanks for clarifying!

    I don't think we'll be changing the way we manage what's pinned to Recent Discussions since it is pretty ingrained with our processes, and a way for us to allow users to see new Alerts and things of that nature. But we can certainly turn this back into an Idea post requesting that Alerts not be announced to Recent Discussions so other users can vote on it.

    Let me know!
