Not sure if bug: Making ONE SIDE of a RECURRING transfer transaction manual edited issues, maybe ok?

-I had a T-Mobile monthly recurring TRANSFER to Apple Card from a checking account. — I've shown it here before.
-I made one side manual, by editing the individual reminder, and changing the date a few days back.
-Then, I saw, the other side of the transaction (the checking side) STILL HAD THE ORIGINAL DATE. Its date wasn't changed like the Apple Card side was, even though it was a linked transfer.
-If I then EDITED that individual reminder to make it manual, and make the date match the other one, then on the cash flow chart, the checking side was fine, but the Apple Card side showed a double deduction on the date both sides were edited to.
Is this a complication I just have to deal with when editing recurring transfers?

I believe that is the way Simplifi works. Changing the date on one side won't change the date on the other side unless it is a manual account, and then it will. At least, that is the behavior I have found. I've often had different dates because, for example, Chase credits the payment one day and it comes out of my checking account the next day.
However, just now going back and changing dates on some of my past transfers, I find it now changes on both sides. But that is way after the fact. I don't think I am remembering wrongly, so apparently when you edit it instead of accepting the downloaded date, things change.
Also the Apple Wallet has a mind of its own. So all bets are off with it. 😀

Just tested it with Apple Card. I had one transfer from January, which had the Apple Card date of Jan 14 and the FUSB date of Jan 15, which is what Simplifi did and does represent the clearing dates of the transfer.
Another one in Dec was the 5th for both. I changed the one for Apple Card (I do that sometimes to be on the same date, but I am inconsistent; I really prefer to keep the banks' transfer dates). I changed the Apple Card to the 4th, the date I did the transfer payment, and it changed the date on FUSB to the 4th as well (it cleared on the 5th). Updating Apple Wallet didn't change it back, which is the behavior you expect in Simplifi as it won't download them again normally.
I am a big believer in letting the user do what he wants, so Simplifi usually accepts your edits and lets you keep it.

I think what you may be understanding vs. what i'm doing is changing FUTURE transactions, not past. i.e. i'm editing reminders and making a recurring reminder a manual recurring instance of a reminder. I am not editing past transactions.

Hello @RobWilk,
Thanks for reaching out! To help us all better understand the issue you are experiencing, can you please supply screenshots showing the specific issue within Quicken Simplifi? By my understanding, you are making one side of a linked transfer manual and then editing the date. You then notice the other side of the transfer not changing to match, correct? I can see from my side that changing one side of a transfer when they are both manual does change the other side as expected, so this may be due to you setting one side of your linked transfer to manual.

I think someone here is missing where I said RECURRiNG transfer, not a logged transaction. Give me a little time and I will grab screenshots when I get on my Mac.

This is the recurring series:
It is a linked recurring transfer.
I edited the date of the next instance (Using the 3 dot menu in the carousel, and selecting "Edit Reminder" then changing the date).
The date was changed to April 16th, when i changed the apple card side, the bonus checking side DID NOT CHANGE, it still said April 13th.
I then changed the date of the bonus checking side to be April 16th, and now both are influencing the cash flow chart.
Note how "New Apple Card T-Mobile" is double credited on the cash flow chart (presumably for each side of the recurring transaction) — even though in the carousel you only see one entry for it.

Hello @RobWilk,
Thanks for the screenshot. I am still not understanding what specifically the bug here is. It appears that you edited an individual reminder as opposed to the entire series, which would create a new reminder if you made it manual, as it is appearing for you. I do not think this would be a bug in this case. I would suggest deleting the manual reminder that was created and just changing the date so that it is correct in the original reminder.

The bug might be that if you edit a manual linked TRANSFER reminder, it should update things like the amount and the date on BOTH sides of the linked transfer. Further, the link shouldn't be broken. It was one series that turned into two.

Hello @RobWilk,
Thanks for the reply! I do not see anything from my end that indicates Recurring Linked Transfer Reminders have to have the same date. Plus, it is probably better in the long run to leave the flexibility of having different dates for individual Reminders so it can be set to a user's preference. If you would like, you can create an idea post for your request that other users may also find interesting and vote for.

They are both ONE REMINDER, with TWO SIDES. They aren't two reminders. It is ONE INSTANCE of a series.
This is a bug. Or, perhaps, a design flaw.
But it's fixable.
I will create an idea post.
