New Credit Card was stolen (edited)

My card through Fidelity was recently stolen and a new card was issued to me by the bank. My account at Fidelity hasn't changed - only the CC number. I am still able to see all my transactions before and after the card theft and replacement, as one continuous account.

Now, because I have a new card number, Simplifi doesn't see it as the same account and has stopped downloading new transactions. So, I'm wondering how to go about adding this new card to Simplifi. If I add it as a new account, then I'm concerned it will duplicate all of my historical transactions, and I'll also be stuck with an old/invalid CC sitting in my Dashboard. If I delete the old CC account and import the new one, I'll loose all the categorizing work that I've done on historical transactions.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's experienced this situation - is there a good way to handle this in Simplifi? Is there a way to link these 2 Fidelity CC accounts within Simplifi?

Thanks in advance

I believe if you go through the process of adding it like a new account, but when it finds the account at the financial institution, select "Link" rather than "Add" and you can link to your existing account. You probably have to make your current account manual before you can link it.

Follow @RobWilk's advice. I've done this many times. Some banks don't change the download account at all when they have to change the credit card number but apparently Fidelity does. I have a Fidelity Card so I will keep that in mind! It's probably because they farm the account out to a real bank.

Once you've linked your "new" Fidelity account to your "old" one, you can just delete the second account assuming that you already deleted it. Those transactions if you have any should redownload into the "old" account. If not, you might be able to move them before deleting the redundant account. If not, just recreate them.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks @RobWilk and @SRC54! I was able to link the old card to my existing Simplifi account and preserve all the categorization work I had done. I'll document the process for those who come after me.

Go to Settings > Accounts and find the account/card in question.
Click the three dots to the right of the account (the individual account and not the issuing bank) and select "Make Manual."
The Card was moved to the bottom of the page, under Manual Accounts. Click the "Link Financial Institutions" button (Even though I had multiple manual accounts, the process allows you to link one account, while leaving the others alone).
After signing in, Fidelity let me select which accounts I wanted to share with Simplifi (I have some investment accounts which I've already connected). I just chose the new card, but on following "Add Account" screen, Simplifi still found 2 accounts for me to add - the original and new Card. Both cards were set to the default option to link to my existing Fidelity CC account in Simplifi, but that causes an error because you can't link 2 sources to the same account. It wasn't enough to just uncheck the box for the old CC - I had to set the old card to "add as New (no link)" first. Then I could set the link the new Card to the existing Simplifi account.
After that, I had one account in Simplifi for my Fidelity Card and I didn't have to delete an old account or edit any transactions.
I'll mention again on Fidelity's side of things, all my old transactions were maintained in the same account. Other banks my handle this differently so the process and/or results of updating links in Simplifi may vary.

Glad you were able to do it. And thanks for sharing to the group!
