Mortgage Account has a $0 balance (edited)

Hello! My dashboard was not updating the current amount of my home loan, so I reconnected to my mortgage company. Now, instead of having the old balance, it had no balance at all. It seems like there should be an easy way to assign my mortgage company to this part of the dashboard, but I don't think the people who designed this app have ever tried using it. Any ideas, besides trying some other app instead?

@ThisIsTiresome, thanks for posting to the Community with this issue!

To clarify, are you referring to the account having a $0 balance in the Accounts List? The Accounts List is the list of all accounts and balances on the left side of the Dashboard on the Quicken Simplifi Web App, or the list of all of your accounts when you select "Accounts" from the hamburger menu on the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App.

Or are you referring to the Net Worth tile on the Dashboard of the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App specifically, where it shows a total for Property & Debt?

Please let us know so we can best assist!

  • Thanks for the response! I'm referring to the Property & Debt tile on the dashboard. I've connected my mortgage account elsewhere in the app, but the data are not appearing under this tile, and I cannot locate anywhere that it can be set to do so. This entirely throws off my net worth.

    @ThisIsTiresome, thanks for the reply!

I just tested on the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App by adding a test property account for a car with a value of 10k. I also added a debt account for a vehicle loan for 2k. I don't see any issues with those accounts appearing in the Property & Debt section of the Accounts Dashboard tile —

These are how the accounts show in my Accounts List:

Have you ensured that the mortgage account in question is set up properly? Do you perhaps have an asset account that is offsetting the mortgage account? Also, have you checked your net worth in the Accounts List to see if it's correct? If you use the Web App at all, is your net worth correct there?

Aside from those questions, as basic troubleshooting, I would recommend signing out and back into the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App. You can also try an uninstall/reinstall to see if that clears things up for you.

    Let us know!

I use only the mobile app, as my computer is not in workable condition at the moment. I click on the Property & Debt tile, and it takes me to the All Accounts page. There, under Liabilities, I have a Home Loan that is linked to my mortgage company. It shows my account as $0.00, even though I still owe money on my mortgage. I would expect it instead to show the value of my original mortgage minus the amount I still owe -- or possibly even, by some voodoo, the current value of the property minus the amount that I still owe. Simplifi does keep track of the "Mortgage Service" amount being paid from my bank account each month. I have tried logging out of the app and also reinstalling it, and this Home Loan amount of $0.00 persists. Thanks!

@ThisIsNotMe, thanks for confirming the issue! This sounds to be an account balance issue versus an issue with the Accounts Dashboard tile.

First, we will need to know the name of the bank in question. Additionally, please start troubleshooting the balance discrepancy by following these steps:

    1. Make all of the accounts with this bank manual by following the steps here.
    2. Once you see the account(s) listed in the Manual Accounts section under Settings > Accounts, go back through the Add Account flow to reconnect to the bank.
    3. If the connection is successful, carefully link the account(s) found to your existing Quicken Simplifi account(s) by following the steps here

Let us know how it goes!

  • Hi. The account now is connected and shows the correct amount under Property & Debt, which was what I wanted. Incidentally, step 3, that referred to linking my account to an existing account, was impossible to follow, because there is no linking option; possibly the app has been changed. I just deleted the old account and added a new one, and it took. Thanks!
