Apple Wallet Credit Card not syncing after reinstalling credit cards in apple wallet IOS

I recently had to sign out of my Apple iCloud account for unrelated reasons. That dumped all the bank cards out of Apple Wallet on iPhone and MacBook. Cards are reinstated but I suspect the Apple Goldman Sachs MasterCard stopped syncing while all other cards are working fine. After manual sync in Simplifi on iPhone failed to produce results, I made the card account MANUAL.

The idea was to go to Settings>Accounts>Add Account and then select "Apple Wallet." Based on the Simplifi instructions, an option to LINK the newly added account with an existing Simplify account (in this case my MANUAL card account) should appear. But this option doesn't appear when adding "Apple Wallet." I assumed this would pull the Apple Card account back out of the MANUAL Accounts section. But adding Apple Wallet doesn't seem to do anything other than indicate that accounts are now connected.

Again I am not presented with the option to LINK accounts as the instructions indicate. I assume Apple Wallet behaves differently from other accounts for which the instructions are directed….

So after adding the Apple Wallet several times, it keeps saying it is CONNECTED but the Apple Card remains in the MANUAL account section.

I'm afraid I might be making a mess of it, but I really do not want to delete the data and reimport from scratch. I don't have time to reconstruct years of categories etc. Everything seems intact within the now MANUAL Apple Card account. Re-adding the Apple Wallet doesn't seem to do anything other than produce a notice that the accounts are connected.

Within Settings > Apple Wallet section, there is just one account "Digital cash" the second part, the "Apple Card" is in the Manual section. I want to bring it back under the Apple Wallet section and hopefully force a sync (refresh) with the bank. Thats all I'm trying to do.

How do I do that since the Simplifi instructions do not seem to apply to Apple Wallet.

Thank you,
Steve :)

You still have your data, and you won't lose it unless you delete the account(s). So don't do that and hang in there.

Have you tried connecting to Support to see if they can walk you through it? Or you can wait for one of the coaches to help you here in the community.

Until then, here is what I would try.

From what you say, it seems you have two Apple accounts: Apple Card and Apple Cash (Digital Cash)? And the Cash account is connected but not the credit card? And you don't have Apple Savings. Just two accounts, not that it should make any difference.

Have you tried rebooting the phone and then trying to reconnect?

Next, I would probably make the Apple Cash manual as well so that none of the Apple accounts are connected. Then I would try to reconnect them to see if you can link them then. From the support article below, it sounds like that is what you need to do. Just start over as if you have a new iPhone.

    Good luck.

Hi thank you for your comments and suggestions.

You are right I only have two Apple Wallet accounts on my iPhone and they were carried into Simplifi initially without issues. They have worked flawlessly until the Wallet on iPhone was disconnected recently when I had to log out of iCloud.

I don't know, but I suspect once loaded into Simplifi, the Apple Wallet accounts remain dependent on the iPhone Apple Wallet integrity unlike other accounts which link directly to the respective bank? hmm. Well thats my assumption. The Apple Card on Simplifi stopped syncing even after I reloaded the Apple Wallet on iPhone.

In the link you provide, in the example, several screens pop up after you elect to link Apple Wallet as instructed. However, in my case these screens do not show up. Even with the accounts set as Manual. It merely states that Apple Wallet is now connected. No option to link anything and the accounts remain in the Manual section.

I will try on Monday to contact support unless someone else has any further suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Bummer. When you to to Simplifi on the iPhone and then go to Settings:Accounts, do you see the Apple Wallet under institutions? The Apple institution should be orphaned with no accounts associated to it since you have made both accounts manual. (I am sure you have tried Resetting the Connection.)

If you have both your Apple accounts set as manual, you should be able to delete the institution and start over from scratch. However, Do NOT do this until you are completely sure (check in the web app) to make sure that both Apple accounts are really manual as deleting the institution will delete any associated accounts and their data!

This is probably the next step, but I understand you will probably want to wait on Support before proceeding further. I am sure they will be able to get these accounts working again. Good luck!

PS. Support via chat within Simplifi should be available during the weekend at least during the day. At least, it used to be.

@OregonNomad , thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Please give the following steps a try:

Make all of your Apple Wallet accounts manual:

    1. Click the Menu icon (the three lines in the upper left corner).
    2. Select Settings and then Accounts.
    3. Locate the Account you'd like to make 'manual' and click the three dots at the end of it.
    4. Select Make manual.
    5. Click Confirm.

Check third-party access to your Apple Wallet information:

    1. Go to Settings in your Apple Account.
    2. Tap on Privacy & Security.
    3. Select Wallet.
    4. Choose Quicken Simplifi (or any other relevant third-party app).
    5. Make sure to select Allow All Activity.
    6. Re-add your Apple Wallet accounts.

To link the account(s) found to your existing account(s), follow these steps:

    1. Click the Link to dropdown menu.
    2. Select the existing account from the list.
    3. Click Update, and then click Confirm once each account selection is completed.

Let us know how it goes!

Thank you for coming to my rescue. I learned one thing: on iPhone, if you delete the cards in apple account or restart the iCloud connection, there is a chance the Apple Wallet on Simplifi will stop syncing. So now I know how to get it up and running again.

Glad it’s fixed. I learned some things that will help when, not if, it happens to me.
