Ability to sort Transaction Rules in Settings (edited)

Rules are sorted by last modified date.

I wish there was an option to sort rules by category or payee name. That way I can analyze all my rules grouped together to more effectively use them and avoid conflicts.

    I would also like to be able to sort rules, but for a different purpose. My understanding is that rules are processed top to bottom, with the first rule that meets the criteria being the one that gets applied to the transaction.

    So, that means that you want more specific rules to appear first. But it's annoying to have to keep editing transactions to get them to appear first.

    It would be nice to be able to reorder rules easily so they appear in the logical order that you want them to, with the more specific rules appearing first.

    IMHO this makes sense. The ability to sort rules for better access, finding duplicates or related rules, customization, order of importance, etc.

    This becomes more desirable with the addition of more if/then criteria being added.

    Outlook Rules have a checkbox "stop processing more rules". If we could reorder rules manually (drag and drop) and then indicate whether further processing was still needed, the feature would really be a lot more usable.

    Example: from accounts, x, y, z apply tag "wife" (continue processing)

    rename foobank to Foo Bank and apply category ATM Withdrawal (stop processing)

Categories
