Stop (or control) recurring Bills being created automatically?

Someone else posted this previously, but the answer was not clear to me and/or the software has maybe changed since then?

I'm honestly looking for some stability and control over the software so that every time I come back to it's not created a whole bunch of things I don't want it to.

Coming back after the weekend it has created 8 different bills and incomes, a number of which I have already previously deleted when it created them the first time.

Is there a way I can just turn off this functionality? It's helpful initially maybe up to a point, but it's just injecting mess and work for me, and especially frustrating when it's recreating recurring bills for items which I've already had to delete recurring bills for.

EDIT: is it better to 'end series' than delete, even if it was never an intended series to start with That's not ideal honestly, but if it stops this behaviour, it will do for now.

Update: I went ahead and deleted or ended all the offending entires.

I would still like to know if it's possible to control the system from creating more of them?

    Hello @cloudquick,

Thanks for letting us know. I think more information is needed here. Can you clarify what you mean by the recurring series being created without you wanting them to be? Are you deleting them, and are they returning? Or are you having an issue with the way they match to transactions in your register?

    @Coach Jon

I had a similar issue to @cloudquick when I first set up my sister's Simplifi account a couple of weeks ago. My answers to your questions would be:

-By "created without me wanting them to be" I mean that the recurring series just showed up without any action on my part. Simplifi downloaded a few months of historical transactions to start off with and then these recurring transactions appeared in the list.

-Yes, when I saw them I went through the entire list and deleted all the ones I had not set up myself.

-Yes, they returned within a day or two. I deleted them a second time. They did not come back.

-No, there is no issue with matching because these were not really recurring transactions.

To me, it appeared that Simplifi had just picked some historical transactions (like with the grocery store or Lowe's) and turned them into recurring series. It seemed kind of random.

EDIT: I just remembered that this is the same information I provided on a similar discussion here:

    Hello @DryHeat,

Thanks for chiming in. As you download transactions, Quicken Simplifi searches for matches to your Recurring items and is designed to match transactions within a certain variance.

If you have Recurring Reminders that are being mistakenly matched with differing amount transactions, you can utilize Amount Matching to control which transactions are linked to reminders through exact amount or amount range options. https://support.simplifi.quicken.com/en/articles/9174873-amount-matching-for-recurring-transactions#h_172e0d8482

We also have this idea post you can vote for and follow that seems to align with the topic at hand:

    I hope this helps!

    Hello, @Coach Jon

I think you are addressing a different issue. Your suggestion (below) does not touch on the problem.

"If you have Recurring Reminders that are being mistakenly matched with differing amount transactions, you can utilize Amount Matching to control which transactions are linked to reminders"

The problem is not that new transactions are being mistakenly matched to existing Recurring Reminders.

The problem is that Simplifi is creating new Recurring Reminders without being asked to do so, even when an account is not being connected or reconnected.

And when Simplifi-created Recurring Reminders are deleted (because they were not wanted in the first place), Simplifi is creating them again.

It would be better if Simplifi just let users create their own Recurring Reminders. Or at least did not recreate previously-suggested Reminders that the user has deleted as unnecessary.

    Hello @DryHeat,

Thanks for explaining your issue further. The issue with recurring series returning/duplicating was recently resolved by our product team, specifically, with other users who have reported the problem in other threads stating the issue is no longer affecting them after the fix was implemented. Are you stating you are still having that problem?

"The issue … was recently resolved. … Are you stating you are still having that problem?"

No… @cloudquick started this thread yesterday (Monday, June 16) saying the problem had just reoccurred for him over the weekend. That led me to believe that the problem was not actually resolved.

    • You asked cloudquick some specific questions to get some clarification about the problem. Having had the same problem myself, I gave my own specific answers from my recent experience in case that would help.
    • I believe cloudquick is a fairly new user; the file where I had the problem was also for a new user. My version of the problem reoccurred for a while when the file was new, then went away after a few days.

Whether the problem has been resolved for new users is a question I will leave to you and the product team.

    Thanks @Coach Jon & @DryHeat

Yes, it sounds like Dry Heat and myself are having/had the exact same issue, and they explain it very well. I have again deleted the reappearing recurring bills that I had previously deleted, and any others that I did not want creating. Hopefully that sticks, and the update you describe Coach Jon will have rectified the issue. N.B. It's possible that the transactions I described in my original post were not recreated very recently, so possibly before the fix you describe.
