How to create/modify a security using CUSIPs?

In an attempt to cleanup dozens of current and past holdings, I've identified many mismatched bond fund transactions, which are making Holdings inaccurate. Some are named with properly associated CUSIPs. Some are named with no CUSIPS. Some are CUSIPs only. In some places I have a separate CUSIP security, and a Named security, which in reality are the same.

In searching through the support forum, the solutions seem to be:

  1. CUSIPS are only provided during a download and match… so just unmatch the security and redownload- This would be nice, but I am unable to uncheck the match box
  2. Restore from backup- This is not a viable option as it removes any recent work, and these mismatches go back a ways
  3. Force a download- This doesn't seem to work, as once a transaction is downloaded, it will not download again
  4. Delete transactions, export from your financial institution, and import them- My financial institution will only allow me to download a csv… which is not in the same format as expected for import. Even if I modify the format, this is no different than adding manually, which still will not match upon the next download.

The simple, most obvious, solution is to allow the users to create a security using a CUSIP, just like we can with a stock symbol. Or allow us to manually add a CUSIP to an existing security.

Why is this basic functionality not supported? Until it is added, we are forced to deal with inaccurate Holdings data.
