Why isn't my new rule being applied?
I'm creating a new rename-payee rule from an existing transaction.
Couldn't be simpler; Simplifi was spelling Wal-Mart sometimes and Walmart others, and I'm making them all be Walmart.
Uhoh. If I'm creating a rule based on an existing transaction, how come it doesn't see any examples?
And I've checked the Apply rule to existing transactions box, and I hit go, and… nothing. None of my transactions end up cleaned up, and I've still got an unholy mess of Walmart and Wal-Mart.
What's up??

I fiddle with my Walmart as well, and it is hit and miss. I think part of the problem for me is that wal is just 3 letters. And my Walmarts keep changing what they send to the banks. Sometimes it is what you have, sometimes it is wal-mart, and sometimes Walmart. I just went this morning and am waiting until later today to get my latest download to see how it goes.
I have to edit Walmart transactions anyhow as they are split into so many categories.
In the mean time, go to All Transactions, search for wal-mart, choose them all, and you can edit them all to Walmart.

@kaltorak, here is how my Walmart rule is set up in Quicken Simplifi, and it seems to work well for me.
I think the "1760" in your rule may be causing issues, and I'd also recommend creating separate lines for the various ways Walmart transactions come in, as illustrated in my screenshot.
Let us know how things go!

I agree with this comment. I have a similar Wal-Mart setup and it works for me.

Update: My Walmart downloaded correctly today as well. As I mentioned previously or perhaps in another thread, I have two. One for gasoline and one for food. I made the gasoline one $25 or less and the food one $25 or more. Of course, the food one has to be split with sales tax, supplies, sundries, coffee pods, wine and beer. Food is actually not that big a part on some trips.
Edit: I updated this rule to "uncategorized".

Thanks! I've clearly got issues. 😊
I went to Settings|Rules, and found I had several identical Walmart rules (a pair including the "1760", three without the "1760"). I've deleted all but one.
I've got other redundant rules, too - check out this triple of Williams Sonomas:
And I can't see how to create OR conditions in my rule definition screen:
I'll clean out the rule multiples; any idea where my ORs might've gone??

Yesterday I got gasoline at Walmart. It correctly categorized as gasoline BUT Walmart went to Wal-Mart. Walmart had changed once again the verbiage they send to the bank. I think it just depends on what terminal you use.
I would say I would use the same pump/terminal each week, but they are sometimes not available!
