I can't tell if this is a bug, or if I'm just doing something wrong in Quicken Simplifi.
I use MidwestOne Bank for checking. If I use the Balance Type "Balance with Pending", Simplifi shows my checking balance as the balance without adding/subtracting any pending transactions. This value matches what my MidwestOne online banking shows as "Current Balance".
I would like Simplifi to show my checking balance as the "Current Balance" plus or minus any pending transactions.
My understanding is that to accomplish that I should be using the Balance Type "Bank Balance". I have tried changing the type to "Bank Balance" and waiting a day for a refresh. When I do, and I have pending transactions, it appears to credit/debit the balance in the opposite way it should.
For instance, lets say my current checking balance (what my bank shows as current balance - the account's balance with no pending transactions figured in) is $1,000. I have deposited as $200 check into my checking account. In both Simplifi and my online banking I see a pending transaction of +$200. Meaning that my balance including that check is $1,200. When Simplifi is set to "Bank Balance" it does not show my checking balance as $1,200. It instead shows it as $800. Once the check's transaction moves from Pending to Posted Simplifi shows the correct balance of $1,200. If I instead use Balance Type "Balance with Pending" the checking balance stays at $1,000 until the transactions posts, and then shows as $1,200.
If the pending transaction is the opposite type, lets say I used my debit card to purchase $300 of something, while that transaction is pending Simplifi would show my account balance as $1,300. Once that purchase transaction clears, it would show my balance as $700.
Is there some way I'm missing to get Simplifi to treat pending checking account credits and debits correctly? Thank you
