Spending Plan: Planned Spend "Overspent" Not Updating
As of 11/12/2025 at 10:04am MT. As amounts are spent and as "Planned Spend" amounts are changed in categories, the "Overspent" amount does not change and does not reflect the proper amount of "overspent" funds.

Hello @TiggerTrainer,
Thank you for reaching out! I was not able to reproduce this issue in my own dataset. Is this issue occurring with all Planned Spend categories, or just a particular one? Can you please provide a screenshot showing the item in Planned Spend that is not updating correctly to better assist us?
I would also see if signing out and signing back in, as well as trying in another browser/incognito mode, works to resolve the issue you are seeing.
Let us know!

Here are the screenshots requested. I tried logging out and then in and it does not change the outcome.

Hello @TiggerTrainer,
Thanks for the reply and the screenshots! I don't think that they particularly portray the issue being described here, however. You stated in your original post that the Planned Spend items do not change the Overspent value; however, I can see that the item shown here in the screenshot does show an Overspent value. Is the issue just that the Overspent value is incorrect?
If so, could you please provide screenshots of the transactions related to the Planned Spend category? This will help us understand the issue better from our perspective. Feel free to DM me personally if you prefer.

I don't know if you are on Windows or Mac — or if that makes a difference — but your Planned Spend bars are laid out differently from mine.
- Where yours show "Spent $xx.xx of $xx" at the left, mine just show "Spent $xx.xx." This is true whether overspent or not.
- Where yours show "+$xx.xx" at the right, mine show "of $xx."
Here are examples of both underspent and an overspent bars as they appear on my system:

@Coach Jon and @DryHeat,
Sorry I don't think I was clear. I thought it was the same for everyone, but maybe not. Here is another screenshot. The overspent in each category is working correctly, it is the overspent amount that appears at the top of the "Planned Spend" section that I am referring to. Here is a screenshot so you can see where the "Overspent" appears when there is some. Sometimes it updates, and sometimes it doesn't as shown in the previous screenshots. I hope this helps clarify.

Ignore my previous post. I see now that you are dealing with a rollover of +$86.07 and a current budgeted amount of $15, which explains the appearance of the bar.
Because the rollover amount is so much greater than the current budget the bar looked weird to me and I didn't register what was actually happening. Mea Culpa.

Hello @TiggerTrainer,
Thanks for the clarification. So per your screenshots, whenever there is an Overspent amount in one of your Planned Spend items, the overhead Overspent amount either does not update correctly or does not appear at all for you, correct? Could you please provide a screenshot of your entire Planned Spend screen? We need to see the overhead overspent balance, along with the Planned Spend categories that are currently overspent. This will help us better understand what is happening in your case. You may feel free to DM me if you prefer. Thank you!

Hello @TiggerTrainer,
Thank you for the screenshots. This allowed me to confirm that the Overspent amount in the Header does match the Overspent amount of your Planned Spend series without Rollover enabled. The Planned Spend series with Rollover enabled are not counted toward the Overspent amount in the Header, and this is because the Planned Spend series with Rollover enabled in Quicken Simplifi uses the targeted amount when calculating your Spending Plan totals.
More information about how Rollover works with Planned Spend can be found in our support article here:
I hope this helps clear up any confusion.
