Do "Spaces" and "datasets" mean the same thing in Simplifi?

I see references in the help articles and in the app to "Spaces." Then, in various discussions I see references to creating or deleting "datasets." (see, for example, the recent post on fixes in v.4.84)

These seem to mean the same thing, but I want to be sure about that. Are all of my Spaces contained in the same dataset? Or is there a dataset for each Space? Is there any significance to the use of one term instead of the other?

Thanks for any clarification you can provide about this.

    @DryHeat, thanks for posting your inquiry to the Community!

    Yes, Spaces and datasets are the same thing. Spaces are what users will see in the product, and "dataset" is more of a technical term.

    I hope this helps!

    @DryHeat, yes, each Space is independent of any others.

    Thanks, @Coach Natalie.

    Are these Spaces/datasets completely independent?

    By which I mean are things like Categories, Tags, Rules, and so on contained in the individual Space such that additions/deletions/changes in one Space have no effect on a different Space?

    Note "Dataset is a technical term" - but you frequently ask users who want to delete their accounts if they "want to delete their dataset" (I haven't seen a post like this in a while). Would it be more apropos to ask them the non-technical "Do you want to delete your space?" or do you think they'd understand dataset better?

    @RobWilk

    I think the distinction becomes important when a user has multiple Spaces and wants to delete only one.

    That is where talking about "deleting your dataset" — which I previously would have understood as meaning deleting all of my data — could become confusing.
