This is the time of year where holiday music, movies, tv shows, etc. are almost inescapable. My favorite holiday movie is one that most people wouldn't consider a holiday movie: The Addams Family.

It's hard to pick my favorite holiday movie. It's probably "Miracle on 34th Street", the original from 1946 with Maureen O'Hara and John Payne. Natalie Wood plays the cynical child who doesn't believe in Santa Claus. The Courtroom scenes are so funny. We've already watched it this year.

Honorable mentions:
1. Scrooge: the Musical with Albert Finney. (I like all versions of this.)
2. The Grinch who Stole Christmas (narrated by Boris Karloff), which my recently deceased brother loved and could recite the lines.
3. A Charlie Brown Christmas.

These always get me in the mood for Christmas.

My favorite holiday movie as of late is a newer one, and I'm not sure it qualifies as a movie since it's only 42 minutes long. But it is absolutely hilarious, and a must-watch!

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

I watch it every year around this time.

I can't get enough of John Lithgow (as Dr. Lizardo/Lord Whorfin) giving his "pep talk" in the style of Mussolini.

(It's not "holiday themed" — but, hey, it's my holiday.)

Oh, yeah, a couple more "recent" ones (2021) that has become a favorite is "A Boy Called Christmas" based on the 2015 book by the same name.

@Flopbot My wife loves that movie "White Christmas".

Another somewhat offbeat movie I like is called "I'll Be Seeing You" with Ginger Rogers and Joseph Cotten. It's a great wartime Christmas film. I also like "Remember the Night" with Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck. Both have really nice themes.

TCM showed both this week, which you can watch at TCM.COM. I highly recommend TCM for Christmas movies.

I need to check this out, I love Guardians of the Galaxy.

My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone. It is hilarious and when the movie came out I was only a little older than Kevin, the child who gets left behind.
