Merge the Spending Plan with the Bills & Income view (edited)

Hello, I am comparing this app with Monarch and trying to decide which app to go with. Quicken has better bank connectivity; however, it is missing the key feature of comparing my budget (spending plan) with my actual expenses by month and by year - as a key view that comes up quickly.

I am looking for an app that will a) help me set a budget based on previous expenses b) help me view that budget over month or years and allow me make planning decisions about what I want to do and adjust the budget accordingly c) lock-in the budget when I am ready and d) help me monitor my spending against my budget at a high level and drill down into the details if possible. Currently I have to go into the spending plan tab and see if expenses have changed from "Upcoming" to "whatever" - this is too much mental math. Also I have to toggle between my spending plan tab and my income and expense view to see what is going on. I have also not found an view for the spending plan by year.

If you merged the bills & income view with the spending plan I think you would have it.

Maybe this vision doesn't fit into what Quicken is trying to do. If not - no worries. I just thought I would pass this along.

I have run through the discussion board - it looks like there have been requests for this feature ongoing for the last 5 years (Request for running balance, request for Empower App feature showing spending pace). These requests all that the same "spirit".

I guess it might not be worth holding my breath.

But it still might be worthwhile to vote on any that you would like to see implemented. Because of the way, Simplifi works, I don't think we'll get Running Balance in the registers. As you know, Simplifi gets the balance for connected accounts simply by taking the downloaded balance and subtracting any pending transactions. It just ignores cleared transactions unless it's a manual account. (For all practical purposes, transactions in manual accounts are all pending transactions though you can clear and unclear them.)

If we were to get a running balance, it might be in reports because this would be easier to implement. Reports by payees or categories are already totaled. I know this is no help, but I wanted you to get a response.

PS. It's probably more politic not to mention Quicken's competitors by name. 😀
