Manually entered investment account - how to update balance? (edited)
I am new to Simplifi after a million years on Quicken desktop. I have an investment that I want added. Venerable won't let me connect so it has to be manual. I add a transaction with number of shares and price, the amount won't calculate. Okay, so I enter the balance amount, the software zeros it out. What am I missing? This is a significant investment and I want it reflected in my net worth.

Hello @luthergail,
Thanks for reaching out! If you are looking to track your Investments manually in Quicken Simplifi, we do have a great support article that explains how to do that here:
As long as a valid ticker symbol is used for your investment holdings, they should update automatically according to the current market stats. Additionally, the balance for manual investment accounts in the Accounts List is updated during nightly aggregation.
As far as transactions go, Investment Transactions do not interact with your Investment Portfolio or Account Balances. These are designed to be a behind-the-scenes type of scenario without impacting your actual Portfolio Value.
I hope this information helps!

I deleted the account and started over. This time I added the cost and now it works fine. I did finally find the ticker symbol; it didn't look like I expected but I don't find a place to enter it. I'm happy now though, since the total value is being reflected.

This investment is an annuity. I get a quarterly statement with the number of shares, the value of each share and the amount the account is worth. There is no ticker symbol. Do you not have a process of valuating an asset that doesn't have a ticker symbol. Perhaps its considered a different type of asset. In Quicken Desktop, I entered it as an investment.

Hello @luthergail,
Thank you for the reply! As far as investments, you may add either stocks or cash when entering a holding in Quicken Simplifi. If there is no symbol for the shares you are trying to track, how are they identified on your bank's side? Is the account considered an investment account there? Let us know!
