Vehicle value in Simplifi from KBB doesn't match KBB website

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed that the vehicle value that Simplifi pulls from Kelley Blue Book doesn't match what kbb.com is showing? I just switched my vehicle account to manual and re-added the kbb connection so I could update the mileage. At the same time, I went on kbb.com to look up my car's value. I used the exact same VIN, mileage, zip code, and condition, but the "Trade-In" value shown on kbb.com is nearly $2000 higher than the value that Simplifi pulled down. Has anyone else noticed this or have any idea why?

Well, I just checked mine and they seem lower on the web site than in Simplifi. We have newer low mileage cars so I don't expect it to be good. There is so much depreciation up front. KBB is often lower than we can get at our Honda Dealer for our old cars, but it is in the ball park.

You can edit whatever Kelly downloads if you wish. I have found the same thing with Zillow; my house is valued lower than the county values it. Of course, the county wants a higher appraisal to get more money in taxes.

@SRC54 Yes, I realize I can edit the value manually (that’s what I did before kbb integration) and I realize that the actual trade in value you get from a dealer may vary. I was hoping to take advantage of the kbb value to roughly track depreciation and market conditions with less touch labor. I just expected that the value that Simplifi pulls down would match what is shown on kbb.com for all the same inputs and on the same day. I’m surprised that that was not the case.

I understand, but I fear that we and Simplifi are at the mercy of Zillow, Kelly and even our banks and financial institutions when it comes to the information they deign to send us. GO = GI.

You can ask Kelly why they are different. Maybe even one day makes a diference. Other possibilities are the mileage guestimates and the condition of the car. Just speculating. Is it possible that the Simplifi Kelly connection is a different entity or using a different method of estimating value?

So I think manual is more and more the way to go. At least I am in control of that.

For what it's worth I delete the adjustment that Kelly downloads. It is interesting but irrelevant. I update my cars values on the anniversary of their purchase.
