@DryHeat …. you are understanding the issue exactly!

However…. I am back in the same boat.

I tried to delete the category: "phantom transactions" and received this message…as as when the transactions were in "shea reimburse" category:

Also went into "all transactions" to search "phantom transactions" (filtered category by "phantom transactions")… and am getting the same message as before:

I am not sure how to find these "missing" 39 transactions…….

If they were part of a split transaction…. would that be why I am not able to find them?

I would think that if the system can tell that there are 39 transactions….that it would be able to locate them in the specific category,,, even if they were splits.

Well, it went from 40 transactions to 39 … so you just have to do it 39 more times. 🤣

Seriously, the whole thing makes no sense to me. And the change from 40 to 39 is even weirder. You are searching in "All Accounts" with the date range set to "All Time," so every transaction should be available.

If they were part of a split transaction…. would that be why I am not able to find them?

That's a great thought! I tested on my dataset and splits don't show up when I filter on a category. But if I set the Transaction Activity list to "Show split details," they do show up. So try that if you haven't already.

You may have just solved your own problem. If not, then respond to @Coach Jon, tell him you have done what he asked, and ask what the next steps are.

[EDIT] I've created a new thread to discuss the issue you brought up about filtering and split transactions.

    You're welcome.

But you are the one who really solved the mystery — by raising the issue of split transactions.
