Confusion regarding bank names: "Citi Cards" and "Citibank" (edited)

I've wasted close to half an hour on this and it's super aggravating. Everything was fine until recently when we opened a new credit card with Citibank or Citi or Citi Cards, whoever it was! Why are there two such banks listed? Either one will get to the credit cards, yet it seems Quicken treats them as different, so I just wasted a bunch of time figuring out what happened, then creating some comments and planned transactions on the new account and deleting the old one. SIGH Why? It's a mess. Now one of my wife's cards is listed on the Account settings page as under Citibank with a blue logo/white letters, the other is with a "different" bank: Citi Cards with white logo/blue letters. What's going on? Should I just leave it alone and have her two accounts showing as from two different banks, when they're obviously not. We log into Citi.com to see both accounts shown on the bank's web page.

Thanks for reaching out! While not a bug, I can understand why there may be some confusion when it comes to different instances/financial institutions in Quicken Simplifi.

To help clear up any confusion, the instances you see when going through the Add Account flow and connecting to a bank are provided by our service providers. This can mean multiple different instances for the same financial institution are available to select from in Quicken Simplifi. Some financial institutions also provide different instances for separate account types as well.

I hope this makes more sense now!

Thanks. So is there any downside to my just leaving this as-is, namely that one of my wife's Citi cards is under Citibank and the other under Citi Cards? When I look at the account settings list, they show as totally separate banks. Does that hurt anything? I would assume it's slightly less efficient for your back end when we refresh, seemingly it would have to to make two separate connections to "Citi" to update the two accounts. Any reason to wake up the sleeping dog?

Thanks for the reply! Honestly, if both accounts are already connected under separate instances, you can leave it that way just fine. It should not have a negative effect on your application.
