Hello, the last few weeks, maybe months, when editing (specifically when splitting) a transaction with a lot of splits (15 or so, for paychecks), if the window is left open to long this error appears in a small pinkish box on top of the screen. It doesnt stop the working from happening, it doesnt stop the update to the transaction button from working, it doesnt stop showing the updated splits in the transaction window but when you log back in all of the splits are gone.

its infuriating. I am updating splits against a clock who's rules I dont understand, just waiting for the rug to be ripped out from underneath me and lose all my work.

How is this ok? Is anyone else seeing this? Anyone have any fixes?

Thank you for reaching out! I think we will need a little bit more information to properly troubleshoot this issue. I tried reproducing the issue on my end, but did not encounter any errors after editing a transaction to include 15+ splits. Do you know the exact number of splits where this error usually occurs? Can you provide a screenshot or a screen recording showing the error you receive when editing a transaction this way, so we can better assist you?

You mentioned that this occurs specifically when leaving the window open too long while editing as well. About how long do you usually wait/spend editing before seeing this error appear? Let us know!

@Coach Jon thats the thing, theres nothing that predicts this will happen. It just happens. There is a 'send report' kind of hyperlink which I have used but I guess that doesnt go anywhere if you cant find it. Happened again this week on a 2xSplit on a single transaction. Everything looked fine. When I logged out and logged back in, everything was gone.

@Coach Jon Happened again this morning 🙄. Sent feedback per the link below. This time it was on split #5 of a payroll transaction. The previous payroll transaction from this morning I had to split in segments of three. After the first three I logged out and logged back in to make sure it was set (it was). I am about to do the same again because I dont trust this software. Absolutely deceptive UX here. At least make the warning screen more prominent, force a user to interact so they understand whats happening and make recommendations so you dont piss peoples time away. A warning that pops up and disappears might not be caught.

@Coach Jon happened again immediately after the last one. This time the feedback window stalled. I referenced you in the feedback if it actually went through. This time I went through the process of updating after every third split and that seems to have stuck. After every transaction with splits (I do a lot of these) I am logging out and logging back in to make sure it is sticking. You can understand how frustrating this is. For reference, this never happened prior to the new SPLIT logic being implemented earlier this year. My guess is it has something to do with that SPLIT/TAGS/NOTES code.

I get this same error quite often, usually when I'm manually entering transactions into accounts that are manually tracked. It just happened again now, so I took a screenshot, but it's the same pink error box noted above:

Once that error box is closed out or goes away, the transaction that I was attempting to add will disappear, and this message will appear:

Then I will keep getting the same error messages if I attempt to add or edit any transactions. Signing out and signing back in does not help. So I just have to stop using Simplifi, and come back in a few hours, by which time the errors will have stopped occuring.

@Coach Jon, I've never split a transaction multiple times before. For me, this issue usually occurs when I'm entering manual transactions. It's not consistent in that it happens every time, but it happens frequently enough to be a major nuisance (maybe about a quarter or a third of the time that I'm entering manual transactions). There's no specific pattern I'm aware of for when it happens.

@Coach Jon My issue is not with manual accounts. Happened again this morning with tags and renaming payees. nothing to do with splits. Not sure when the error appeared but I had to log out and back in again and this morning's work was gone. I cant record what I am doing because I dont know when it will happen, sometimes splits are fine, sometimes they are not. Sometimes I rename a payee and its fine, sometimes its not. There is no rhyme or reason.

I have been seeing this error a lot today, since updating to the newest version. It seems to be happening when setting categories and when marking transactions as reviewed. It's quite annoying as I sometimes I come back and see that an edit that I made wasn't actually saved and needs to be redone. I'm using Google Chrome.

Thank you for chiming in as well! It seems this error occurs with multiple different actions, based on the feedback from other users and you in this thread. I still have been unable to reproduce it myself.

Can you let us know if using a different web browser also causes the error for you there? We will want to know if the error is browser-based. If it happens again, are you able to send logs as well?

Although I have seen this from time to time, it hasn't happened to me recently or in the latest web version. It's always been a mystery when it happens, and I've always figured it was a momentary server issue.

At any rate, I am keeping an eye on it. I use Safari but I have Chrome, so may open it in Chrome a while to see if that makes a difference.

I used to get this error periodically (as I said, usually when entering or editing manual transactions), but I've started getting it with a frequency to the point that Simplifi is becoming unusable. It just happened now while I was trying to update a connection to a synced account. I submitted logs. I'm using Google Chrome as my browser.

I just opened my file in Chrome, and it is a mess. It shows lots of past recurrings that have come in and are linked, and I just got the error message twice. I am going to sign out and back in. I probably need to clear the cache as well.

I think this "could" be a Chrome problem, though the out of whack recurring is probably because it's been a while since I opened Simplifi in Chrome.

Re-signed in and now it looks right again. I'll use Chrome this weekend instead of Safari, and report any findings.

In the meantime, I suggest those using Chrome sign out and sign back in. Make sure you have the latest version of Chrome, and clear the cache and/or history to see if that helps.

@Coach Jon Similiar issue for me. It's actually been happening for the last 2 months or so but seems to be much worse over the last 2 days. I can barely get through a few transactions without seemingly becoming disconnected from the Quicken server. Not sure if the others have tried, but when I logout and try to log back in, I am able to put in my Quicken ID, but then the spinning blue circle spins without ever being asked for a password. If I wait another few minutes to close and try again, I can eventually enter my password and re-connect. Then the cycle repeats itself - I try to enter a transaction and once again become disconnected from the Quicken server.

Also worth noting that when this happens, at least for me, my data is also temporarily "locked" out of the Simplifi iPhone app as well with the message "Sorry, but we were unable to make your changes." appearing at the bottom of the iPhone app screen when I open the iPhone app. It's almost like the data file becomes locked or disconnected from any user interface until it becomes accessible again - usually within a few minutes or so. But what's frustrating now is that I can't get more than a few minutes with my data until the error occurs again.

Another point to make is that while you're disconnected from your data, if you navigate to Investments, you'll get a message that says "No Data - We can't fetch your data from the server. Please try to refresh the page." And in the news section of Investments, the message "Unable to get news!" Another point of evidence that somehow the user interface is becoming disconnected from the Quicken server.

As I mentioned, this has been happening to me for about 2 months on a somewhat occasional basis. I have tried multiple computers, multiple sources of WiFi, the Quicken web app, and different web browsers like Chrome and Edge with the same issue occurring. To me, that narrows it down to a Quicken server issue, but it's puzzling why it seems to impact some more than others. Could it relate to file size? For reference, I have about 10500 transactions going back to July 2024. Surely there are others with many more transactions than that I would image. I also have around 250 accounts, including accounts that are closed.

Would greatly appreciate the support to resolve this issue for all of us. Happy to provide any additional info needed, screenshots, etc.

I have had no further trouble in Chrome since updating to latest version and signing out and back in. Rock solid all day.

I've selected multiple transactions, added some; tweaked some others and worked on the Spending Plan, etc. Anything specific I should try next?

Edit: Still working well in Chrome, but the issue now has been acknowledged and is escalated, so switching back to Safari. Have a great 4th of July!

Thanks for trying. I really think this is the type of issue that is impacting some data files but not others. Perhaps there is some sort of data integrity issue that is impacting some users/data files but not others. I have gotten the error constantly today even while just navigating and viewing (let alone saving a transaction) like some others have mentioned. Makes using the app nearly impossible.

Hi, Simplifi team! I have been having issues with Simplifi when it comes to uploading attachments to my transactions. Over the past few days, Simplifi will randomly refuse to let me upload attachments. It will randomly give me a generic error saying, "An error occurred. Please try again." When I click "try again," it just returns the same error. Refreshing the page and clearing my cache didn't help. I also have been getting this error randomly when using Simplifi for other cases, but I can usually save most changes except for attachment uploads. This has only been happening for a few days now.

For me it got much worse over the past few months, although I had the issue occur from time to time previously (similar to how Steve - SRC54 - has characterized it). I am very much looking forward to 6.28 (hopefully) next week with fingers crossed that the fix solves the issue for all of us!

I know that 6.28 hasn't been released yet but did want to report that, at least for me, the recurrence of this issue has been significantly less over the past 36 hours or so. Perhaps that has something to do with the immediate changes that Kirby referenced above? I did encounter the error message one time yesterday but noticed that the app reconnected with the Quicken server very quickly after that. I'll continue to monitor the issue and provide an update after 6.28 is released.
