Planned Spending needs to look more like Bills, including the ability to schedule by date or week number—having all of Planned Spending coming out on the first day of the month in the Cash Flow chart is not helpful. The total for Spending Plan for the current month should be adjusted for the Planned Spending total.

Trying to understand what you are asking for.

The Planned Spending part for me are the budgeted categories that vary month to month: food, groceries, supplies, sundries, gasoline, etc. They occur as necessary during the month. I set a certain amount and try to stay within it. If I end up spending a little less, that ends up as savings at the end of the month. If I see that I will have to spend more on a certain category, eg., more driving, I increase that category. I just don't know how much I will spend for groceries this week as it depends.

I can increase grocery budget if there is a special event, for example, Thanksgiving, or I could just make that extra trip to the store a one-time bill, if I like.

The reason all the planned spending is subtracted immediately is to give you a feel for how much (or little) you'll have leftover at the end of the month. Again, you can adjust if you see you will need more or less. And you don't have to use it, you can let everything be a bill or you can let it go into Other Spending. Of course, then it isn't "budgeted" at all.

I'm not sure what you mean. The projected Planned Spend amounts don't affect the Projected Cash Flow charts on the individual accounts. The individual transactions related to Planned Spend series show up in the relevant account on the day they are made.

Am I misunderstanding what you are talking about? Are you talking about some other Cash Flow measure? (I'm using QBP, so maybe you are seeing something different than I am.)

I think you are talking about how the "Left this month" amount is calculated, but I'm not sure.

That amount is calculated using the total Income (whether received yet or not), the total projected Planned Spend (whether spent yet or not) and the total Bills (whether paid yet or not), because it is a projection of how much will be left at the end of the month based on your plan.
