With the latest Transaction Review feature, we want to hear your feedback! Let us know what you think by commenting below.
Here is our announcement with more details:
I must have just gotten the newest release. The reviewed column got moved all the way to the right, after the Amount field, and I can't seem to move it back to the left where it belongs (it's been there for me for so long and that's where I like it). Help!!
In the browser, you should be able to click on it and move it to the left where you want it. Did you reboot your PC or try a different browser?
I had to reorder my Dashboard cards with the new version. They added a new card. I also had to go back to April Spending Plans and edit the series amount for 2 Planned Expense categories.
It didn't let me drag it over. I switched off early access and that fixed it, switched it back on and it was still fine until I refreshed and then it put itself back on the right and doesn't let me drag it. This happened on two different computers by the way.
@EL1234
Check to see if you are using the "Unreviewed" Quick Filter. When that filter is on, the reviewed column moves to the far right and sticks there. When you turn the filter off, it moves back to where it was originally. At least, that's what happens for me.
Of course I am, I use it all the time! It's probably my default view. But it never moved the column over before, and it's quite annoying that it's doing that now (only in early access luckily - for now…)
Ok… so I take it that it moves back if you turn the Unreviewed filter off.
I was surprised by this feature too. At first, I didn't see the Reviewed column and thought that I had lost it altogether. I also prefer it to be on the far left, but I guess I'll just have to get used to it moving back and forth.
Well for now you can turn off early access…
I think it's silly because the column is adjustable so why would they turn off that ability just because I added a filter?
I definitely have feedback. I had to switch out of early access but I'll switch back just for the feedback. (Note: my earlier posts in this thread were originally in another thread that got merged in.)
As a Simplifi user since 2020 and the one who originally suggested adding that Reviewed column on a zoom session with a coach (it was a discussion about tags) back in the early early days when you were seeking feedback about your brand new app, I sincerely hope you take my feedback into account now. Thank you.
@EL1234, thanks for posting to the Community!
I see that you already found this feedback thread and have left more detailed feedback below. Thank you for that! I did go ahead and merge your post from this morning here as well, so we have everything in one place for our product team's review.
I hope this helps!
I love this feature. This should make reviewing transactions much quicker as I can just go from one to the next and edit it right there if necessary. instead of going back to the transaction list and then editing a transaction manually.
I mainly use Simplifi on mobile.
I would love to see a filter to hide pending transactions as I don’t mark them as reviewed until they have cleared. I suppose for now I could sort by old to new.
To add to my above comment: It's not a big deal at all to mark all transactions reviewed without that button. Just click the checkbox to select them all and click Mark Reviewed. I understand if someone has years of transactions that they never reviewed they will need to expand each section to do so, but that's a one time thing.
Also I wanted to mention that I LOVE the quick filter to show unreviewed transactions in one click. I just don't like the fact that the column moves and the new button to mark all reviewed (both seemed to appear last night).
Also I don't use mobile so I don't have any feedback on that.
I was taken aback that you were having trouble; should have known it was something like this. You usually are helping us! I haven't yet been able to reproduce it but I don't use these filters much.
I'm excited that this has been added! My initial feedback is:
The Pending filter is a critical item for me to use this feature. Looking forward to some refinements to make this a feature I'll really use!
Until @EL1234 pointed it out, I'd never notice the Review column shifting to the right since I never have any unreviewed. I review them when I enter or download them. I agree completely that moving it over to the right makes no sense and fools the eye.
Likewise, I really haven't been able to try out the new Review card; I saw it yesterday and it told me I was done. LOL. I'll keep an eye out for it. But even if it isn't that useful to me, I am glad that others can see the benefit.
Took me minute to find this was on the Dashboard and Transactions using web and I almost missed the right column.
Initial feedback is I now have 2300 unreviewed transactions which I'm not going to take time to go back through one at a time. On the other hand I'm reluctant to hit the mark all reviewed button. Sounds like all or nothing. Before I hit it to get a clean starting list…
Can I undo if this if I change my mind if i change my mind?
Does it work on filtered lists to limit the damage?
This is a great feature. I like seeing all of my unreviewed transactions across accounts, and the way they are categorized on the dashboard.
I strongly agree with two issues raised by others:
i like the idea of this feature, but I really don’t want it to effect the green “Reviewed” dot. I wish there were two levels of “Reviewed” dots. One, maybe blue, would be tied to this feature. The second one, existing green, would still be available to use when reconciling through the bank statements. I see this feature being used immediately after the transactions download. True reconciliation wouldn’t occurs untila month later.
You make a valid point that transaction review and reconciliation are two different things. While I don't agree with the suggestion to combine them into the same function/field, it's clear that users use the current Reviewed field for different purposes. For me, reconciliation should be separate. I haven't opened a bank statement in years. I used to reconcile to bank transactions before using Simplifi, but I did it throughout the month using online banking not just at statement periods. Since moving to Simplifi a couple of years ago, I haven't been doing a traditional reconciliation at all. It would be beneficial to have a recon feature to simply make sure synced balances match the transaction total, but beyond that I don't believe the majority reconcile their accounts in the traditional sense. Honestly, my young adult kids wouldn't even know how to reconcile their accounts and have likely never opened their bank statement since they monitor their accounts as needed throughout the month.
I kind of like the new mobile UI for this, but I only want to review posted transactions.
It just started a couple of days ago, it was definitely not a thing when the Unreviewed filter was added.
I agree with not reviewing transactions until they clear. I usually just minimize the pending section which is at the top (on web)
What I would do is bulk edit them to both mark them as reviewed, and give them a tag like "old" or "bulk reviewed". That way you can always find them if you want to go back to them.
Another piece of feedback! When filtering to show only Unreviewed, the New transaction button is gone. Why Simplifi, why??
Hmm… maybe a separate "Reconciled" checkbox would make sense for those who reconcile
Replaced by the Mark All as Reviewed Button. I assume they wanted to keep it uncluttered.
I figure this Quick Filter was for the reconcilers. I rarely have any that aren't reviewed, so I use it only as a quick check. I use uncategorized the same way. Then go back to non filtered view..
I use it for reviewing transactions to make sure they are accurate. But I very often stay in that view. I do NOT like the Mark All as Reviewed button and will try my hardest not to use it by mistake, but the New Transaction button I use quite a lot when reconciling manual accounts and when adding manual transactions for checks I've written from my checking account. And the Mark Selected as Reviewed button which that same button turns into when transactions are selected is quite silly since there already is that same button on the other side of the toolbar. Highlight it if you want but we don't need two!
I think its a great feature. I haven't dealt with using the reviewed checkbox before, and it does help me mark/perform my reviewing actions in a better way.
My main piece of feedback is there is a substantial delay in performance using the cards, and I noticed significantly worse performance on the mobile app - especially with poor service. When swiping left or right, I expect that I will be able to swipe through pretty quickly - but normal performance appears to take ~2-3 seconds per swipe to update and then show me the next card.
In comparison, the web version can also feel a little laggy with ~1.5 seconds of waiting to mark a transaction as reviewed. (I will also say that the web interface mitigates this slightly by allowing multiple transactions to quickly be checked as reviewed, and it will lag to update, but I can keep reviewing as the updating is occurring).
In a poor network condition on mobile, I was having 30+ second delays sitting and waiting after a swipe for the transaction to "go through" and see the next card, and sometimes the transactions would come "flying back" since it wasn't able to commit the transaction.
If the user experience could be made snappier - maybe caching something on the local side while transactions are being processed, but still allowing the user to swipe and continue reviewing - I think it would make it a 10/10 feature.
Right now, it is maybe closer to a 7-8 out of 10. Great feature and I like the presentation and visibility, just slightly frustrating at times to use with feeling laggy.
On the ios app, after going to the "review transactions" menu, the "Mark as reviewed" button doesn't update fast enough. It takes 2-3 seconds between presses to enable again, likely waiting for network completion. Consider batching or queuing requests client side so that users can easily click through transactions and mark them complete as fast as they want.
@aMoistMuffin, your post has been merged with the official feedback thread for Transaction Review, which is currently in Early Access testing, so it can be reviewed by our product team.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you to everyone who tried Transaction Review in Early Access and shared feedback with us. We really appreciate it.
As part of Early Access, we've been learning how Transaction Review performs across different customers and datasets. Based on what we've learned and the feedback we've received, we've decided to temporarily remove Transaction Review from Quicken Simplifi Mobile as we work to improve the experience.
We've heard your feedback, and our team is actively working on making Transaction Review faster and more reliable before bringing it back to Quicken Simplifi Mobile.
Transaction Review will continue to be available on the web for Quicken Simplifi and Quicken Business & Personal users, and on mobile for Quicken Business & Personal users.
Thanks again for trying the feature and helping us make it better!
Thanks Natalie. I haven’t had any performance issues on mobile, but I’ve only used it at home with fast wifi.
Like at least some others, I REALLY dislike that great, big "Mark All As Reviewed" — it is way too easy to click that by accident. Maybe you follow that with an "Are You Sure" response button, which would sure be good, but I don't know because I'm not going to click Mark All intentionally. Maybe give us a few seconds for an Undo, too….
AND it's instead of the New button which I actually used to use quite often! Very annoyed and hoping they change it back.
YES! Good catch, @EL1234 . Very annoying
I like the simplicity of the Transaction Review, great way to keep on top of the register…
I would like to suggest that you could toggle "Pending" transactions on or off. I didn't like that, since restaurants for instance can be a couple of days before the finalize with the tip amount… Seeing everything may help some, but I found it distracting.
I agree. I try to mostly ignore pending transactions until they clear (I do look them over in case there's anything I need to take care of, but I try not to edit and review them). As you said, sometimes the amount changes. I have also found that when I edit the category or add notes to pending transactions, very often either my changes revert once it clears, or I end up with a duplicate - one with my edits and a new, cleared transaction without them.
For this reason, I use cash at restaurants. If I used a credit card, I would give them the tip in cash. I don't like this idea of doing a hold and then adding the tip later. Very 1980ish.
I usually delete pending transactions that are unreal and replace them with the right amount.
Yes, I end up with duplicates sometimes; I just delete them. Sometimes my changes revert. This is why I have Quicken Classic as a backup.
If I didn't have Quicken Classic, I would still do it the same though. I would still rather have accurate data than inaccurate data.
But whatever works for you.
Same thing happens to me at gas stations (they put a bigger hold on the card and then drop it and just charge the correct amount) and sometimes with Walmart Plus orders :)
Personally I find it easier to wait on the pending transaction than to make sure I find dupes and delete them, or to redo my changes when the transaction clears.
Also adding my voice to the folks who really dislike that when we click "Unreviewed" it moves the "Reviewed" check box all the way to the right. It is unnatural and breaks the flow of thought.
I suppose if we wanted to give in we could move it to the right for always and just get used to that, but I don't want to give in, I like it at the left!
