I like this alot. One big feature that seems to be missing is the ability to filter out categories, etc.

First off, I really like the spending feature and think it has a lot of potential.

Clicking through initially, it looks like no time period outside the current year is available with data. There's no historical data at all — comparing to previous years shows nothing.

What I'd like to see: the ability to view top-line spending for a different year and compare from there, rather than always being anchored to the current year.

One thing I do like already is being able to select which accounts to include or exclude.

I wish there was a toggle to include bills/recurring transactions the same way watchlists do into current month/quarter/year spend.

My rent payment is coming up at the end of the month and until I pay it the MoM comparisons will look like I'm doing very well compared to any other period.

As Smile and Dance mentioned, the ability to filter out categories would be very helpful. I have a significant amount of account to account transfers and never tag those transactions to be excluded from Reports. As a result, my Income and Total Spend is significantly inflated on the Dashboard, and all those transfer transactions are showing up in the Uncategorized category on the Dashboard (even though I confirmed that I actually don't have any Uncategorized transactions in the Transactions view).

The ability to quickly visualize Income - Total Spent = Remaining / Overspent without having to drill down to reports section is an excellent time saving addition. Look forward to seeing it eventually on the mobile app. Generally impressed with the frequency of updates to QBP.

The concept is cool and I have been waiting for something like this to track spending. However, I am not seeing the visualization that I would ideally want. I would like to see a simple line graph - My goal is to see a line of my total spending this month compared with a line for my total spending last month on a given day (e.g. on the 20th of last month my spenging was less than the 20th of this month). There are so many reasons why this view is useful. Mint used to offer it as the home page view and it has been a gap on Quicken for a while. I also agree with another user who indicated we should be able to filter out categories if we want. Or perhaps show total spending without a category breakdown, as I jsut described. Overall, I just want something cleaner to look at where I get an immediate indication of how I am tracking to my typical spending.

I find this feature useful and well thought out.

One problem that I found is with the Taxes category. The total for the month is correct but in the details window one of the transactions is not displayed, specifically it's a tax payment made out of my IRA account (RMD withholding). The total does include the transaction.

This is an awesome addition. Something I been waiting for. I think there are some tweaks that could be made and in agreement with what has been posted in terms of having the ability to customize the time periods. I love the different charts available. The heat map chart is nice. Overall not much to dislike about this new feature.

I really like the new Spending Dashboard. One of the most useful improvements is how it filters out transfers between accounts, so those internal movements don’t distort the numbers. It gives me a much clearer and more accurate picture of my actual income and spending.

My main suggestion would be to make the Spending Dashboard available as an option when customizing the main dashboard. I would love to add it there so I could see this information immediately when I sign in, without having to navigate to a separate section.

Overall, this is a very helpful addition to Quicken Simplifi and makes it much easier to understand where my money is actually going.

FYI: I am not experiencing the issue of not seeing prior year data. I imported data back to 1/1/2022 and I see it in this new Spending section.

As I posted above, the new Spending section is a welcomed and excellent addition (primarily because I see it as a a quick, visual "Cash flow" feature without having to run a report).

I have noticed however that while the MTD and YTD "Income" box totals tie out exactly to what is reflected when I run the "Income & Expense MTD" report in the reports sections, when I drill down on the "Income" box to see individual transactions it does not include the detail for any income that is derived from my Investment accounts (e.g., dividends, interest, capital gains **). Of my three main income budget categories: Salary, Rental Income and Investment Income, only the latter is not shown in the Spending / Income / Transaction detail (but thankfully is included in the total). It would be helpful to see this information, but THANKS for at least including in the totals.

(** I am able to track the investment income and link to income budget categories by changing the Investment Transaction Type to "Payment/Deposit").

I am experiencing the same issue. Apparently no investment transactions appear in the transaction detail (but as you said, do appear in the totals).

I love this feature. One thing I'd like added - having the transaction table columns save across the session/account. Specifically, when clicking into a category within the new spending tab I see : date, account, payee, category, exclusion, and amount. I rely on notes a lot to comment on what the item actually is. I can edit the columns, adding notes, resizing them, and reordering them, but unlike the primary transactions page these updates are lost the moment i click off the category.

Mine is not working when organized by categories. It gives me one group of "Personal Expenses", no breakdown into categories.

But, if I choose "Payees" or "Tags" it does work and gives me the breakdown. Am I doing something wrong?

I echo the positive feedback that this is a terrific feature it was sorely needed to fill a major gap that was missing from Mint's offerings.

I also strongly agree with others that we should have the ability to customize time periods. I want to be able to see and compare spending across previous years, for example, rather than being limited to the current year.

And in the Sankey diagram, I'm also seeing the odd display of "uncategorized credits," and the Income displayed in the chart is not matching up with the Income listed in the transactions when I drill down into the transactions.

The 'this month vs last month' view is showing the wrong value for last month for Charity category. When I drill into it to view the transactions, the values are accurate.

I love the grid view…..this is exactly what I'd like to see for the Spending Plan to show a forward looking view of expected spend over time.

@Coach Natalie, I just noticed that your post says the Spending Dashboard is still an Early Access feature. I am not enrolled in Early Access, but I have had the Spending Dashboard feature for the past few days. Is this intentional?

@Coach Natalie do you have any suggestions or advice about why I'm not getting the category breakdown in the Sankey diagram? In June I downgraded from Simplifi Business + Personal to regular Simplifi but my categories still are grouped into Personal and Business. Simplifi won't allow me to change that. In the SanKey diagram when I view by category all I am getting is one big category of Personal Expense. If I hover over the Personal Expense it shows " View 85 transactions", but if I click it the detail it shows 0 expense with no transactions. Everything seems to work fine when I view the Sankey by payee or by tag, just not by category.

I think this must be a bug, but since this is still in early access is this the right place to report this?

@disc2120, I had the same issue with "Uncategorized" credits. For me these were duplicate transactions from my monthly reminders that the software thought did not occur. After I cleaned up the transactions, this uncategorized item went away.

Note that "Credits" in general are treated differently than "Income" which is why they are separated. For example if I received a credit for a "Cash & ATM" charge the following month when the bank statement closes for getting cash from an out of branch ATM, the credit will still show in the same position as the "Uncategorized" credits do. Not saying this is the best way to show how it should be depicted, but that is how the chart displays credits for now. Personally I would prefer the credits lane line flow directly into the Total Spent group not income given that it is ultimately a net positive cash flow for a given category.

Glad to see these new updates. It has enabled me to view my cashflow in meaningful ways that were difficult before. FYI, specifically around the Sankey diagram, the Credits show clickable links, but they are not working.

Just turned on for me - thanks its great.

As noted above, credits show up in an odd way with a long 'tail' - its not just for uncategorized credits. I'd prefer to see them moved to just show up under the related spend category as its just a refund reversal of spend. Also the hover tip suggests you view transactions, but that doesn't currently do anything..

Income total number includes investment account dividends which is what I'd want. However when you click to drill down on this number, dividend income is no longer included. I tried toggling transaction exclude on and off but there was no change.

I use reports extensively. In this view you can see a month view sorted by tags. Note the amounts of the expenses in this view for each of the four main categories of expense which total $5,396.76 before applying the credit.

Now look at this view of your new Spend app for this month. Income figure matches. Four main spend category tags also match. However, the Total Spent tab on the header of the report does not add up to the totals in the Aug. spend columns $5396.76 (also does not account for the credit refund in any way making it incomplete.)

I like the concept of the feature and would really like to use it, but right now it is useless/wrong for me because of how it handles transfers. I have monthly transfers into investment accounts, and they show up as Uncategorized spending, making all spending calculations and graphs significantly wrong.

Please look into how transfers are handled - nowhere else in Simplifi are they shown as uncategorized (the category of each of these transactions is set to the account the transfer was into, as normal), and they should not be shown as expenses. Otherwise, maybe give an ability to ignore them from this report so that the spending data can be accurate.

There is a discrepancy between the bar graph and when you click into it. The bar graph includes all transactions and the secondary window does not. It's missing transactions

Sankey Diagram is nice but I would like if savings were factored in because my "available" is much higher than it is in reality because my savings goals contributions are not included.

Fully agree with qcmnts regarding how transfers are handled. While it does look like those transactions have been moved from Uncategorized to Transfers with the most recent update, I would still want a way to exclude them from the entire dashboard. Having the ability to filter categories would achieve the objective.

Nevermind…I see now that it shows month-to-date, this month vs last month, so depending on the day of the month and when bills are paid, comparisons could be skewed.
